Maybe consider the MP instead of the platinum.
That is about the same drone, but a bit more quiet and a little more flight time.
But also more expensive.

I agree - the MPP is definitely a quieter drone, looks nicer (IMO) and gives a good 3 minutes more per battery and when I bought it I considered that worth the extra £100. Now you can get the original MP for £899 it makes it £300 cheaper than the MPP and the upgraded ESC's are not worth £300. Love the MPP but the MP is clearly better value.

Indeed. I would go for the MPP if it was only € 100,- cheaper.
But with the current price diff it makes me think if they have issues making the MPP and don't want to sell any....

They've sold out in a lot of stores from what I'm seeing (with waiting lists still in play) and no official dealers are selling it below the RRP set by DJI here in the UK. I know it sold like hot cakes at the end of last year and I must admit it feels like flying a totally different drone to the original MP and is super quiet in comparison to the other drones - loads of great reviews all over YT too. Perhaps DJI limited the supply and once more under estimated the sales forecast as they did with the original Mavic. It does seem that they cleared out all of the bugs from the original too - I don't get gimbal disconnects, erratic hovering, focus issues and 1080p @ 60p is fine now - I'm either very lucky or DJI have done more to the MPP than they advertised. So I don't think its a case of not wanting to sell any but just not making enough to meet the overall demand. The month the MP2 is released the MPP will massively price drop for sure.

Actually with my MP the footage was great also at 1080 60p
Nothing like the examples you see in the earlier models.

Yeah, that was probably FW - we've had about 20 FW updates over the 18 months since it's original release. The Mavic Pro is a great drone - whichever one he gets and the MP is better value now though if money is of little concern then the MPP is an obvious choice.

Or just go with the MP and wait for MP2 while having fun.
If that is good enough, sell the MP when the prices get down a bit and the initial bugs fly away

That's what I would do if buying my first drone now (with a second battery and set of 8331 props too)

Absolutely - in fact, that would be my choice for a first drone moving up to the MPP or MP2 later in the year.

Hmm...  Makes me think.  Wonder how hard it would be to dissect the camera and remove the IR filter like we used to do with home video cameras.   ....  I've got a P3A  that could be converted to interesting uses.

I'm still in doubt between MP and MA, but that depends on price mainly.
Looking for a cheap 2nd hand MP to start again, or wait for the MA to drop in price.
