So I had to test out the range of my spark since everyone said it is terrible on 5.8 ghz in europe.
I did not use an otg cable, no antenna range boosters, just connected to 2.4 ghz with my phone to remote and off i went.
Current firmware and DJI Go 4 Version on Android 8.1.

I have to admit the video on my phone got sluggish at around 200m, but up to 657m distance I did not lose connection to the spark once, really impressed since dji advertises 300m range with my settings.
I'd still prefer using a wired connection between controller and phone to reduce lag.
But still, good job @ DJI.

I think you have got the ranges wrong. In Europe it’s 500m for 2.4Ghz and 300m for 5.8Mhz. So you should have tested in 5.8Ghz to see the maximum range.

Looking forward to your 5.8Ghz test.

my phone was connected at 2.4ghz.
remote was connected to spark with 5.8ghz.
I am not able to connect to remote @ 5.8ghz to test the range on 2.4ghz unfortunately, my phone won't find the remote although my phone can use the 5ghz wifi.

All I get using my crystalsky on 5.8 is about 100 meters if I’m lucky.

you get totally disconnected from aircraft or only red warning messages referring to video quality?
in some areas i got the red warning messages concerning video feed also at around 100 meters.

best to test out for yourself in a rural enviroment without interferences on a calm day without wind.
i cannot believe your range is that low, unless enviroment is not suitable for flying.

I was in the middle of a field with nothing around. I’m sure it’s the crappy crystalsky now the otg isn’t supported. I used to get about 2000 feet.

Not bad.  Thanks for reporting.  I'm sure that relatively clear line of site is a factor.

To comply with the Line of Sight you have to have a spotter. A second person that keeps an eye on the drone.

As for the range via 5,8GHz, isn't that the distance of the whole trip ? There is no way how you could fly that far under the CE regulations ...

no the shown distance is at time of the flight record. total distance was 1,4km.

but yeah, it actually is a surprising result. never flew further than 200m away from me before with the spark. I expected 250m til disconnect because of the red error flashes.

I did 2km with it, had no connection or lag problems at all. And if i didnt stop to take a pic it would go even further. I have plenty of these kind of flights. ps: CE MODE/5.6GHZ/OTG.

Brazil falls under FCC not the CE. Your range (2km/1,2mi) with the Spark confirms that ;).

Max Transmission Distance:
2.412 - 2.462 GHz (unobstructed, free of interference)
FCC: 1.2 mi (2 km); CE: 0.3 mi (500 m)
SRRC: 0.3 mi (500 m); MIC: 0.3 mi (500 m)
5.745 - 5.825 GHz (unobstructed, free of interference)
FCC: 1.2 mi (2 km); CE: 0.18 mi (300 m)
SRRC: 0.7 mi (1.2 km); MIC: -

Indeed FCC is fully supported in Brazil but down here DJI drones fall under CE regulations. Why? I have no clue. As far as I know FCC mode is an US exclusivity.
If I go to the transmition settings in DJI GO 4  it will display 13 channels which means its working under CE regulations. Or im wrong?

I'm wrong! hahahahah. Just read that in Brazil it works under CE when using 2.4ghz and FCC when its on 5.6ghz.
