Trying to help a friend with 'weak transmition signal' issue

Hoping someone can assist! I posted this in the Phantom 4 Pro section, but i think this model (with the onboard screen) is actually the ADVANCED model, hence reposting here.


I have the Mavic, which is 100% working fine and i kind of know my way around,  but i'm trying to help a friend out with his Phantom 4 Advanced as he has a really weak image transmition signal problem.

It's probably worth mentioning that when he originally bought it, it flew fine....but recently he went to fly it and out of nowhere had the 'weak transmision signal'...so he decided to try and update the firmware, which hasn't rectified the issue.

As a last resort i asked him to drop it round to me, as i've had a bit more experience... I thought it may have been a failed firmware update or something simple, but i've been through and updated it succesfully yet the image transmition is really weak....even with the craft 5 ft away from the handset.

I have tried re-installing the latest firmware update.
I have tried re-pairing the controller with the craft.
I have tried assigning a different channel for the controller.
I have tried downgrading craft firmware to previous version.
I have tried to see if the controller needed a firmware update, but when i connect the controller to DJI assist i can only see a 'restore to factory settings' option and absolutely nothing regarding firmware.

None of the above has rectified the problem.

The controller shows  light 'stuttering' between red and green (if that means anything to anyone?)



I have owned a Phantom 3 previously, and currently the Mavic....both of which i realise need a phone or tablet to operate. Am i correct in thinking that as the P4A that i don't need to connect it to the DJI Go 4 App to test it out?
If i DO have to pair it with the DJI app on my phone, i have tried searching for the craft in the WIFI settings on my iPhone, but it's not appearing there. (like i say, i don't know if it should appear there or not as it has a screen onboard)

Please help as he needs this for his wedding in a couple of months.

Hi Nee, do you refer the RC of P4A without the built-in screen, right? If yes, the standard RC of P4A does not support to upgrade the firmware via the DJI Assistant 2. The issue may appear if the RC has not been updated to the latest version. Please try to connect the DJI GO 4 APP and try to update the RC from the overall status.

Sorry, i thought my post was clear!!! To clarify, the issue is with the P4A WITH the built in screen!!So, can the RC with the screen be updated?

Nope, the built-in RC only support to upgrade via DJI GO 4 and SD card. You can refer the video to update:
