Hi All,

I am just starting to use my Spark (first drone) and I could use some insight into choosing the best phone as a controller - so far without the Spark Controller.

1. Samsung Galaxy S7 (Verizon but no SIM)
2. Nexus 6P (Unlocked and no SIM)
3. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Unlocked with Project Fi SIM) [Actual Phone]

I'm not sure what peoples' experiences are with the range, battery life, connection stability, etc.

Also, how important is it that I buy the Controller in the future?

Controller is a must and you'll find that IOS devices work best with DJI products. iPhone 7+

Hi, congrats and welcome to join the drone club. Please read the user manual more than once before you start to fly the drone. For the mobile device, to ensure the stability and performance, it is recommended to use the one on the compatible mobile device list of the Spark, which you can check from the website: https://www.dji.com/spark/info#downloads, thanks!

In general, iOS devices seem to work the best with DJI.
But all supported devices should work.
And YES, a controller is a must for range and controlling your Spark

Controller for sure!  And if you haven't purchased a phone for it yet, definitely go with iOS.  I use an older iPhone 6plus and it's great.

First, the controller is a must for accurate, smooth movements and Sport Mode.  Secondly, i highly recommend and IOS device due to stability and functionality; android devices are known for many issues and disconnects.

I was asking from a list of Android phones I currently have, but I'll see if the wifey will let me use her retired iPhone 6 then.

Yes, I read the list.
It is just that iOS seems to have less issues.
