Alright,  figured out it’s a mostly male dominated hobby.  What about age.  Is this mostly 20-35 age range??

I'm 37. I actually think it's either young (under 18) or older than 30. All my drone friends are over 30. The 18-30 year olds usually have more important things to spend their money on (not as much expendable finances). Besides credit. Buying a drone on credit is probably the craziest thing I've ever seen, since you could crash it on the first day and end up paying for it for 6-9 months. Just my opinion.

You could make a poll.

I got into this late 51, also a photographer and wanted to think outside of box.  It is amazing the difference in angels one can get.  I have not yet figured out if it’s feasible to invest in better equipment yet.  I have not sold any of photographs taken from drone yet.  I have been having a ton of fun with the spark it makes me feel like a kid again.

That is one of the great things about this hobby - it's for everyone. I sold my Spark to a 94 year old WW2 veteran! I'm an enthusiast in my early 40's and my teenage nephews love drones!

I am  65 and got into it because I can no longer carry a camera to take images, and I can do it sat down. I cannot work any more so it has given me a new purpose in life.

overall it seems a broad-based activity demographically - people of all sorts from all sorts of places. i like that, and i love seeing images/video from all over our planet here - great community and "common air" to share.

That’s awesome! I wonder if he ever got the spark off the ground.

I showed mine to my 88 yr old dad, he was amazed that it didn’t take gasoline. Lolt

Apparently so - his wife died last year and he wanted a new hobby. Seemed to be very able - different generation I guess - they were a tough as nails in those days.

Male 68, primary use is documentation of my boating adventures to share with family, since I travel alone. Now retired, but I have extensive experience as a professional airplane and helicopter pilot in aviation related pursuits.  Since I spent lots of time in advanced aircraft simulators I find the DJI Googles just the trick to fly the Spark with the advantage of "what you see is what you get," rather than a simulation.  May not have the wide field of view of a higher level simulators, but it is pretty good for the price.

Started with a PH3 SE about a year ago and more recently a Spark. Have had an interest in photography for some time just to take photos of family or subjects and scenes that I wanted to record but not a dedicated enthusiast with the best equipment. Became aware of drones so bought the first one without much research, then the Spark followed. Retired, mid 70s male so sometimes a struggle to understand all the technical details, electronics information etc. Use both drones for photos and videos mainly near my home with a few trips further away. Have not posted any videos as still unable to use editing proficiently, so hope to learn to do this effectively soon.

I know right! It may be more about economic status though. As in, who has the most money to burn on toys.

In some ways I can agree, though for me it was a necessity if I was to carry on my photography career. Also a deal too good to ignore helped too!

The posted ages makes me think the Spark 2 should come with a magnifying glass in it's fly more combo.  Something to help old farts see which way to plug in those mini USB plugs and memory slivers/cards.
