Even here in the UK there is a 3 week wait for them - I've got 12 already though but have used them all so need to get another set to back up the back up's.

I check each one after every flight and throw them out if I notice anything wrong like scratches, chips etc. - haven't lost 1 yet though.
There is no redundancy on these quads - if one of those props pops the whole thing will crash out of control. You'll also find that the winglet tips are very thin and quite delicate - need to handle them with a bit more TLC than the older ones.

hey woe - way i understand it is that they are not actually quieter on the db scale.
They do have another pitch/tone though which brings me to the conclusion that since they are not actually quieter the new pitch /tone (from having changed the wing tip design a bit) is less offensive (or scary) than the higher pitch sound.

Ok Mr. technical

Love these 8331 props for sure.  Just took out on a test flight and the noise is a little less close and noticeably less say at 100 feet up and further.  Also the noise is a better noise than the stock props.  Very nice.

I seem to remember seeing a police surveillance helicopter having more rotars to keep the noise down. If true could DJI experiment to see if it would work for us.

Completely agree the noise is a lot better with these.

All of the above probably- I like the fact they seem to work well, it's also good to see DJI's ongoing development following product launch. DJI desrerves credit for a more stealthy Mavic.

I also ordered mine last week from ebay waiting for them to come. want to see the difference, also watched on youtube that you get about a minute more flight time with the MPP props, something to do about the air flow

Very cool.  Didn't test if I got longer flight time or not but I really like them a lot.  For sure a winner.

problem is that you lose efficiency with more than two blades, so the reduced noise might come at the cost of flight time.

Maybe this will help the guys
https://youtu.be/aoiVfHGNOk8

Suren : You reminded me of something I had forgotten since first viewing that video.  My hearing is very poor in the high range.  For that reason, I can't really hear enough difference in the old and new props.  I knew the pitch was different, due to lower RPM, but had forgotten that most of the noise level change is actually in a range that I don't hear well anyway.

I'm just thinking maybe I should just buy them locally for now and when those come will have some spares to keep

I can see that, It was a damn good explanation there. Unlike like me I buy first, break second then try to research it.

Buy it first, break second, then try to research it, haha, it's really interesting. You make me laugh!

Cheers man. I bought my first proper drone (P3P) on a spontaneous buy and didn't even tell the wife LOL but since then all of my drones are researched before parting with a penny.

Really interesting thread! Man I hope we see some low-noise props for the MA (although to be fair I don’t really notice the noise once it’s 20+  meters away, it’s mainly reducing the annoyance factor for others I’m most interested in).

Andy, it sounds like Suren in gonna buy you a Mavic Pro 2 when it’s released! What a top guy!

Reduced noise is essential our state has very stringent noise restrictions. It doesn't matter if it is offensive to us only to bystanders that complain to policy makers that are effectively banning Drones.
