I'm an android developer by profession. It's normal to do a staged roll out of new versions. So, only a small percentage of users get the update at first. If there are issues, that version will be rolled back for more work.

So, if you haven't gotten 4.2.12 yet, it is because the staged rollout hasn't reached you or they may have found issues and pulled 4.2.12 from the market.  If it is the latter, hopefully they will quickly make some corrections and rerelease it.

From DJI Support: As per our developers idbl. It is released in phase. So it is available for some customers. And it is estimated that all the customers will be covered tomorrow.

Speaking of.  Does anyone have a working OTG cable/set that goes from the MicroUSB on the controller to a USB-C port? (I have the Pixel 2 XL).  Where did you get yours?  I'd like as small a cable as possible.  8" is about as long as it needs to be.

I bought something like this -

I will be using it with an Android Samsung S8+.

It only costed about $7 from Asia.

I use the DJI RC cable.  Currently (4/18/2018)  they are two for the price of one.  Because it is a DATA cable there's no risk of purchasing a cable that is only a 'recharger.'

Plus, the 90 degree bend is only on the phone/monitor end.  The end that goes to the RC is straight, makes more sense cause it doesn't direct the cable toward your hand.

There different cable to chose from. I believe this one is at the far right of the selections. Nice cables very good quality. How long of a cable are you looking for?

I have somethig like this

And i plug it in my controller. Then i use the cable my phone came with and connect to controller.I prefer this solution because it works with any phone as long as you have the charging cable

I think the issue is that some manufactures use different pins for usb c. For example i remember seeing an otg that didn't work for samsung  but it worked for htc, and the other way around (working on htc not working on samsung). that's why i prefer my previous stated solution.
Ask for refund if it doesn't work but you will only know after you try it

You don't know that it doens't work since you didn't test it !

So ssakellaro, the Original Samsung S8+ Charging Cable will work ok ? + The DJI OTG.

The Chinese Cable didnt cost a lot only $7. I think I will use it to whip myself for the mistake.

If it shows CONNECTED on the DJI GO4 app, when I connect the Cables it means it worked right, it cannot disconnect in a middle of a flight, I think if the pins are not compatible with my Samsung it wont work right away but NOT CONNECTING to the Remote.

I dont love to risk on these things especially when they cost a few euros.

My suggestion was in error...sort of.  I'd forgotten that the Spark RC uses a micro USB port.  The cable I linked is the one I use with my Mavic Pro.  Using it would require a converter which is kind of clumsy.

So, I would say to look for a DATA cable, where the specs specify DATA.  Sorry for the mis-direction.

I just installed 4.2.12 on android. All OTG issues have been corrected. OTG is back with all critical info now present on the screen. Thanks DJI. :-) Everyone should be getting it soon as a standard release.

Did you get it from Google Play or did you sideload it from a site?

Ok, so I've tested the newly released DJI GO 4 and here are my results. I've tested DJI GO 4 4.2.12 build 557 with a Spark firmware 01.00.0900. DJI Assistant claims this is the newest firmware.

First the good news, OTG really displays the essential flight data again. Now the bad news, I can't see the the info about the WiFi channels (how much interference there is for each of them) and I am unable to force the RC to switch between the 5,8 GHz and 2,4 GHz band. It doesn't matter whether I use the cable or go on WiFi only connection. It simply doesn't work at all. The only way how I'm able to see it is when I reset the WiFi of the Spark and connect to it directly by phone. It connects via 2,4GHz and I can see the channel info just fine. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that my phone can't use the 5,8Ghz band but we will need more people to test it out. I'll include some screenshots below.

I am on 4.2.12 i see all my chanels and interference but did not try to change a chanel ill test and tell you

Sorry that OTG cable is not supported now. If it can be used on spark, we will inform users then. Thanks for your attention.

For channel issues like changing to 2.4 , it cannot be done using OTG, what you could do is connect to WIFI and change to 2.4ghz. Then when on 2.4 GHZ shutdown AC and then use the OTG cable.

You know, I am very happy that we are back to "not supportet yet".
Now we have a OTG option again, like before 4.1.18, in the newest (not even available in playstore yet) app version and I say thank you very much for this.

But I don't think we will ever see a 'OTG supported by DJI for ALL android devices'
Simple to many devices wont match the needed specs

Ya that was 4 days ago.. What a load. Oh ya Crysalsky uses andriod software, sorry no OTG support there. Bigger load..

Nexus 7 no otg missing telemetry n battery info.  Use 4_4.1.5

Latest info: version 12 is back on play store in Canada, first try with otg looking good , awaiting clear condition for test outside

12 is back on the Play store for me in the USA. It's showing as an update even though I already had it side loaded from APK mirror. Will update later today.

Check the numbers of your one.
I updatet from the apkmirror version  (574-googlePlay) to the playstore version (577-googlePlay), only a 17 MB download it was

This is great news. I just saw it it my Android Playstore, hoping it won't cause any technical issues or well software bugs shall I say..... I think i'll download it later on and give it a proper test tomorrow if the rain doesn't come that is!!!

Now..... where did i put that OTG cable i bought 5 months ago!!!!

Also.... Will they now produce an official Spark OTG set? Mine is a clunky old Maplin one

Yep..me too.  All seems to be correct with all information on OSD

D info not working with Nexus 7, all else is working! Great step in the right direction.
