I know you can reassign the up/down/left/right movements, but what actually happens when you press in the 5D button?  I don't see this listed anywhere...

The 5D button is there to be assigned to certain functions, you can program them to do whatever function is available through the app. The instructions and default settings are on page 9 of the manual.

The 5D button has 5 possible inputs...  Up, Down, Left, Right, and click or push in.  I know what the first 4 do, that is documented in the manual, and the app will let you customize those.  But what happens when you push that button in, or click it like a mouse button?

And if using the DJI Goggles with the Mavic the 5D stick is used to navigate and select the various functions in the Goggles.

It will either bring up or close the intelligent flight menu in DJI GO 4 when connected to your mobile device (which shows all intelligent modes like tripod, tap fly, active track, POI, etc.)
The function of this button cannot be changed unfortunately

Thanks for the answers above, it is correct that pressing the 5D button will bring up or close the intelligent flight menu, it is not changeable.
