Hi All- Apologies if this has been asked already, I did have a look!

After updating to the latest I2 firmware last night, both the main remote and the secondary remote have a strange issue. When I plug them in to charge, the charge lights don't come on, but instead there is a loud clicking sound from the remote. The problem seems to go away if I do a short press on the power button.
I've flown the I2 this morning and all worked OK, but the remotes still do the same thing. There are around 4 people on the I2 owners group on FB with exactly the same issue after update. It doesn't seem like a major issue, but it's strange. Anyone else got it, or any ideas how to fix it?

Similarly: The lights did not come on during charging after the update, no clicking sounds though. I left it plugged in - seemed to have charged.

Seems a bug in new firmware.

I worked around it by pressing the power button to turn the the RC on and once I saw a white LED light up, rapidly plug the charger in.  Seems to charge after that.

No need for extras, any time you have the RC plugged in to power, press the on-button on the RC, it will start showing the charge lights as normal. Light is off until you press the on button.
Suspect this has to do with compatibilety issues with the Cendence RC, it does not have any charging lights, only indication on the display.

I vote "BUG" since some report their RC is clicking and some do not (Mine doesn't, fwiw.).

If this is their new means of charging the stock RC unit, it should have appeared in the newest "Read me" on the update.  Something like "Hold down the RC power switch while plugging in the charger" or something, along with "Ignore any clicking if you have it or not."

It's a bug, and some new owner's may end up asking about "Why it doesn't charge" per the manual.

I've reported the same here. I did hear some fan noise and clicking. It's hard to describe, but it's not a loud crisp clicking (like when you turn on your car's blinker light), it's more like a dull, low-frequency sound that "clicks" about a second apart. In a noisy environment, one may not notice these sounds.

I agree that it's some kind of bug for sure. I was able to get the remotes to return to normal behavior by downgrading the firmware, and upgrading them again brings the issue back. I've done like everyone else and just pressed the button once, then plugged in and it charges fine.

The issue isn't going away either. I've now done 4 flights since the updates and both remotes still have the 'clicking and no charging lights' thing going on.

My post where highlighting, that there where no need to  "Hold down the RC power switch while plugging in the charger".  Simply press the power button any time, and the charge lights would be visible.

As well as offering a possible reason why the change. DJI has never been overly good with release notes.
Edit: there is no sound comming out of my RC as far as I can tell.

I was having this non-charging/clicking-noise problem myself and discovered the method that got them to charge. But I believe I've discovered that the RC update has been pulled. I tried the downgrading firmware and re-upgrading route but now that it's at v01.01.0002 it says it's the latest version. Took it to a local DJI certified repair facility and they were perplexed. So they tried updating one of their RC's they had yet to update and it said it was the most recent version as well. I was told DJI has pulled firmware updates before without announcing.

Interesting as my RC Controller shows 1.01.0010 as latest after this firmware.  Haven't done any rollbacks yet.  Puzzling.

Maybe DJI needs to chime in on the RC Controller version matter and if they did do a secret rollback since this one made yesterday.  If they did, how to get the correct one too.

What has me puzzled is do I roll back the pilot controller too?? because I've only discovered this on my payload controller. So as of now Pilot RC is v01.01.0010 and Paylod RC is v01.01.0002

I did a test flight and everything seems to work great and I have to take this unit into the field on Sunday for an entire week. The guy at the DJI Store said he would leave it as is, and I'm afraid a rollback on the Pilot RC might create problems like flight issues or video transmission issues, or any kind of issue at that.

I charged my RC and CrystalSky batteries in the battery station and had no problems. But I didn't plug in the controller.

Hi all, sorry for my late response and appreciate your feedback, for the users who encounter RC charging issue after the firmware upgrade, please update the RC firmware per the following steps.
For iOS users:
1. Clear the Firmware Cache in 'Clear Cache' in Settings. 1.png GTScreenshot_20180420_165421.png

2. Do not power on the aircraft but the remote controller.
Press the icon at the right-top corner in the main surface for least 10 seconds then release your finger.
There will be a firmware selection list pops up, then choose the firmware to downgrade the remote controller.
3.png GTScreenshot_20180420_170207.png
3. Then update to the latest firmware again.

For Android users, please ignore the clear firmware cache, downgrade the firmware and then update to the latest version directly.

We sincerely apologize for the trouble caused, please let us know if there are other issues.

Thank you Mindy! Much appreciation to the team for fixing this so quickly. Slave RC that wouldn't recognize there was an update did recognize one this morning and updated; and re-installed update on Master RC as per instructions and BAM RC's now charge with no problems as we've all previously mentioned. Plan on doing a flight test somehow today (but it's raining eek!). Hope it goes smoothly with everyone else.

Mindy, I see version 1.01.0010 in the photos you show above, but the red square is on version 1.01.0002.

Are we to rollback to version 1.01.0002 and not use 1.01.0010 ?

I have 1.01.0010 and it has the charging issue.

Is 1.01.0002 the correct one?

Thanks.

Hopefully I'm not intruding too much but "3. Then update to the latest firmware again."

Are you using iOS? Clear firmware cache if so, turn on RC, downgrade to 01.01.0002, (I restarted the RC) then update back to 01.01.0010 which it should prompt.

I should note one of my RC's still said it was up-to-date on v01.01.0002 but I just went into the menu when holding down the 3 -'s and I was able to download 01.01.0010 in there and install it.

Where your profile is, the settings cog-graphic top right, you'll find it under there.

Good question.  I'm not seeing any of Mindy's screens in iOS 11.3 (current) and GO 4.2.12.  She may be using older software to demo with.

However, I did roll back to 1.01.0002 from 1.01.0010 in the RC which went well (Seems to stick aorund 99% on installing, but it eventfully hits 100%).  Turned it all off, iOS tablet too, and rebooted it all and GO 4 asked to Update the version in a red flag on the GO 4.2.12 opening screen.  Clicked that and it downloaded 1.01.0010 again and installed.  Rebooted everything again to check if it was right (It was.) and shut it all down.

Plugged in the charger as in old times and the white LED's lit up and operates as it did before, so it does seem the rollback and reinstall back to the 1.01.0010 (newest version again) worked here.

Now to wait to see how long it takes for the LEDs to go out once charged.  Last time with the buggy one it took about 3 hours before they went out.
