Could anyone tell me what the difference is and what I should be using with my Mavic Air?

You'll need to install DJI GO 4 on your mobile device in order to fly your Mavic Air. The DJI Assistant 2 application can only be installed on a computer. You can use it to update/reset the firmware, calibrate the sensors, and access the internal flight logs.

2 different software..the only thing common is to update firmware...but about the rest..are 2 different software.

DJI Go 4 for flying, Assistant 2 for updates.
