I just bough the Air and all have everything updated to the latest FW versions (app is 4.2.8, MAir is 01.00.0.300). I am using the RC and phone and I am pretty disappointed with the tracking in all its modes (profile, active, etc) except for when using SmartCapture modes.
So here are a few questions:

1. Is the tracking done on the DJI Go app or on the quad? I read on the forum that Litchi does a better job which leads me to believe its the app doing the work.
2. While active track is this bad, when I use eg. Helix on SmartCapture, it will maintain the center of the helix even if there are tree obstructions in line of sight. So why not integrate a bit of a prediction in flight paths for active track too? Its not that hard (I am a SW/HW engineer).

It works for me so far. I have done active tracking, following me in my bike while going through a narrow (around 3 meters width) path in the forest, and the drone was keeping the pace and avoiding branches while keeping me in sight.

Active track is terrible for me also.

I agree, active track is limited.  Works well out in the open if you are going slow and don't turn.

I loaded Litchi 4.6.0 on my Galaxy s7 edge. Tracking with Litchi  tracks the controller. So should be good if obstacles in between controller and drone.

Yes I fancy trying Litchi (for the waypoints but also have heard tracking works better).

Could you please provide me with the details of its performance for further checking? A video of the operating procedure will be helpful.

I am very happy with my Magic Air. However my first tries with Active Track are quite disappointing. When the traced object is getting out of view MA is not intelligent enough to search in the direction where it got out of the frame. I would assume that it shouldn't be difficult to improve this. Hope the developer will work on this.
