Hi,

I have my remote on the way and I am wondering what are the benefits of using an OTG cable between the remote and my mobile?

Also can someone please suggest a quality one for Android please?

Thank you

One wifi less to worry about, I would say.

For testing yourself you can try it with a normal OTG adapter, which you may have in possession anyway.
Just one thing: the side you usually plug into the phone, the micro side, needs to be pluged into the RC.
And is the last plugged in for the connectivity, after the RC LED is not blinking any longer.

Also ebay can help you. I have one like this. It works

The biggest advantage is if you're in Europe. The use of OTG allows the connection between the Spark and RC to use 2.4GHz, which gives greater range in the EU due to very limited CE output power in 5.8GHz there.

The biggest benefit is reduced video latency (the video is delayed more over WiFi). It also seems to be a more reliably way to connect to the drone than using WiFi on Android.

Hope the quality will be OK.

The benefits of OTG cable are limited for the Spark and Mavic Air compared to Mavic Pro and Phantom series drones. This is due to the fact the video transmissions of Spark and Mavic Air are not displayed in HD because they do not have OcuSync or Lightbridge to transmit the high level of video signal. For this reason, WiFi connection from RC to your device is not going to be affected with high latency effects. They look exact the same as I use for my S8 and iPad mini. They work very well for me, so I think you made a good deal.

Hi,

I see only a Mavic cable but I presume that's OK for the Spark as well.

And I got 2 from ebay, one mico2micro, one micro2usb-c
Very good experience.
I must add, I order from 'located in China' websites, only
Which need a week or two longer, to get it delivered.
But first, compared it is inexpensive.
And second: In case something does not work, you mostly tell/mail and get another one.

And of course, yes, sometimes ebay seller are not the best if it comes to service
But to make this a "general better to be avoided" is maybe a bit to unforgiving ;-)

Useful information, thanks for sharing.

It took me a few times to learn and understand the differences between them but since then I see the value in having OcuSync with my Mavic Pro as compared to WiFi with the Spark.

The Spark has good connectivity and video feed, but the Mavic Pro transmits clearer HD video signal with a stronger connection for overall flying.

I think DJI should exclusively release future iterations of its drones using any transmission feed that allows HD streaming and stronger overall controller connectivity as it's a much more immersive and higher quality experience.

Thanks to all - just to ensure 100% compatibility  I've also ordered a genuine DJI cable as well

Cheers.

Thanks David,

Though the one you linked is female/male cable (can also be used but then you will need another one too), I have ordered the Mavic Pro cable that is male/male micro USB:

Appreciate your valued suggestions, I will forward it to our engineers, hope it will be improved in the future if possible. Thank you so much.
