So, I'm sure you've heard this a hundred times, but my spark decided to land in a lake instead of returning to home.  It was flying great and then I just lost signal with the remote. I think I will get my scuba tanks filled and try to find it later.  Maybe the props will still be good.  But anyways. I was woundering if some one could scrutinize my flight data and tell me what I did wrong or what happened.  All software was up to date and calibrations were done.  Here are my logs  http://www.phantomhelp.com/logviewer/VW0FRP81Q7U5QESSB4HJ/#
  Thanks

Nothing in that log file to indicate what the problem was.. maybe the battery eject thing happened.  If it had simply disconnected from the controller it should have initiated a return to home.  Sounds like you have a good case for getting some help from DJI

After reading lot of posts of Spark users that battery disconnects during the flight, and reading your log's... i'm pretty sure that same thing happen to you.
You were frying, and suddenly end of log's without decreasing altitude.

Can you tell, how often you removed battery from Spark? Was it couple of times, dozens or hundreds ?

Hi Chuthcy,

If the setting RTH is to Hover than it stayed there till run out of juice > 10% power landing  > wet.
I have read that after SW update some of the setting will change their values.

cheers

Yes, i know. But if the drone/rc is disconnected your flightrecord stops with getting data.
Drone can hover disconnected until batt runs out.

The battery probably had less than six flights on it.

At the time of the flight, I was not using the prop guards.  I was filming a fishing tournament and wanted to keep it light as possible.

Did you saw your Spark when it fall down to water?
If yes, was it long after you lost connection ?

No, I'm not a 100% sure.  I had a spotter with me. When I told him I last connection, he looked at me, then back at the drone and it was gone.  It was a perfectly clear day, so it should have been easy to see.

That's what I'm afraid of.  I read a lot about that before I bought it, so I was ALWAYS very careful about checking it.  But, I guess it only takes once.
I still haven't told my wife yet, cause I still came home with all the phantom video.  Wish me luck

Never fly by radio control what you can't afford to crash.  Never fly over water what you can't afford to lose.  Fortunately the Spark, and other very capable drones, are getting cheaper.  Great chance to get a Mavic Air.

As the Porsche dealer asked the car owner's teen age son (and his friends):

I was about 850 feet out and 64 feet up.

flying that close to water can be problematic.  I never fly any lower than 100ft and even then I get extremely nervous

Not sure if this will work, but here is the finished video that I was working on when I had my misfortune. This is with the Spark and the Phantom.

p.s. I did send my logs to DJI. I'm hoping they have some wizardry and can figure out what happened.
