Thank you! We’ve had some wonderful weather lately. Unfortunately it was too windy on some of the sunny days but I’m sure there’s better days to come

If you pinch squeeze it to a bigger size, and slide the picture around on the screen it comes alive.

Yes, those lines are beautifully carved in the soil, with the help of Our favourite satellites. GPS.

Even the shape of the furrows were well crafted. I've noticed differing furrow characteristics between farms but I haven't worked out the correlation between choice of equipment, type of crop, land characteristics etc but farming seems more of a science these days

I can't imagine what this scene would look like had there been no agriculture!

I took some artistic liberty... we had interesting skies tonight so I took to the car and headed out to a convenient field just to photograph the sky. I then used tonight's sky instead on Saturday's scene to give the result below.

Clicking the image or link below takes you to an interactive Skypixel version which might take time to load

Haha, that’s pretty neato!! Is that even a real word? Haha

I like it. Interesting how photo manipulation can be achieved today.

It’s fun to speculate. Look at old settlements where nature has reclaimed it.
Sometimes the past is completely hidden.
I like antiquity...

Funny you should mention nature reclaiming the past... 11 years ago just about half a mile from that location, they were clearing up an overgrown area at the end of the bridge and re-discovered the old toll house!
To think how many had driven past it not knowing it was there.

You see, that’s exactly my point.

Over time, our own civilization as we see it, will be overgrown too...

There have already been several, to a few extinctions.

Wasn’t it fun, being here though? Chuckles

Thank you I'd love to try this with a later Phantom model myself to see if it give better results. My "ageing" 2016 P4  camera is a little soft in places which robs some of the detail.

There are all sorts of wonders hidden away round here, or lost to ill fate.

One fantastic tool I use is from the National Library of Scotland which allows highly detailed and accurate Ordnance Survey maps from the 1890s to be overlaid over satellite imagery.

For example, Rossie Castle, was blown up in the 1950s and very little remains of the estate as shown below;

http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/# ... 4997&layers=168&b=1
My aerial view above where the castle once stood; https://roundme.com/tour/132335/view/334512/

You may need to select the OS 25inch map from the "map series" drop down list and then use the transparency slider beneath it to fade in an out the map over the satellite imagery.

It's amazing using this for towns to see what has changed, or finding buildings long lost in the vegetation.

Incidentally, the tollhouse above is right in the middle of the map below, next to the "1142"
http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/# ... 4539&layers=168&b=1

There's no time like the present!

Ok, your mission should you choose to accept it., is to film each one, in order of importance. ;-)

Yes, we live in an old world. Very old... haha

Suddenly I feel so young and youthful.

Full of something, for sure... snickers

Hehe - that would be quite a mission! It can be fun picking out structures on the old map and visiting to  find what is left.  It amazes me how the map makers seems to have done such a thorough job!

Glad you like them! Maybe 100 years in the future, the imagery taken today will be preserved and looked upon as a window into how things used to be ;)

Visiting these old places of antiquated existence, even by drone is fun.

A closer look, with a cursory search on ground by foot, with a decent quality metal detector...
Need I say more... hidden riches to behold.

The pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, is not necessarily Acapulco... ;-)

Woof!

This is what I love about history... I'm the guy that would crash his drone/car/vehicle gawking at the "overgrown area at the end of the bridge" wondering what it used to be ????!!!!!

Hehe - I imagine when the building was uncovered it was a major distraction. I do recall seeing some bent signage on that corner Incidentally, that's a chimney stack in the middle with a little fireplace below to keep the occupant warm. Must have been rather cramped!
