Ah, wasn't thinking ... Got it at Walmart, $12 on sale ... But seriously, you're right ...

I think the umbrella is a disaster waiting to happen. A gust of wind can topple the whole rig over. Otherwise, very nicely done. I might rig up something like this myself.

I'm aware of that, rent. That's why the umbrella is easily removable. After all, my hands are on it all the time. Once the mission is finished, the umbrella is collapsed and off the stand.

If the wind is kicking up the umbrella is close enough to collapse quickly, I don't think that's much of an issu, besides some sandbags holding the tripod should advert a catastrofe. IMHO the ONLY issue I see with that setup is the black umbrella, what would be perfect is kind off an inverse photography umbrella, white on the outside, black inside to prevent reflections.

Do you plan to mass produce the custom made aluminum palm rest and umbrella brackets? Global demands in the coming hot summer in the northern hemisphere will be high!

After all, you now have an all-weather set up - not only your Matrice 200 but also yourself are IP43 ingress protected!

Henry, thank you for suggestion, but no. At the age of 71 profitability of my hobby is the last thing to consider. I'm getting ready for 2018 summer escapade along Pacific shore of the continent and mass fabrication of such devices right now is beyond my abilities. Perhaps later I will make a few copies for chosen friends ...

Mixchief, I purchased another golf umbrella already, this time in light brown-ish colour tone. It must be lightweight enough, these 2-layered umbrellas are too heavy. The new one provides acceptable shade to survive 30 min sun-baking ...

SPRAY PAINT THE OUTER LAYER WHITE, ooops sorry about caps, trust me you will notice a huge difference, the dark colors absorb the heat and the umbrella might as well be a parabolic reflector, right on your head LOL.

I personally do not like not having the remote in my hands or using a neck strap while holding the radio.  I like your idea and very happy for you.

Thank you, Brother Rich. 5 years ago I wouldn't bother with such rig, but somehow things are heavier every year ...
