A horse's natural instinct is to fear something that is strange, moves, and makes noise. So, her costume made her look to the horse as not human. She was strange looking to the horses, the strange "wings" moved in a way that was not "human", and the wind blowing against them made a strange noise. All those translate to "might be a predator that wants to eat me" in the mind of a horse who was coming across it for the first time. So, she was just trying to "desensitize" my horse to this new "object".
Glad your horse is well trained and friendly. Been around one that would have attacked instead.
Friend has a horse more like yours. His daughter's former barrel racing horse that is easy going. Knows a few tricks too. Even once helped save a City-Slicker on a runaway horse, who was out on some chuck-wagon ride experience. If only I had been there with a drone... |
