I would like to know that as well. Just built a F550 and have been using a S3 2200Mah battery (From my T-Rex 450 heli) for testing and setup which don't give me squat in up time. Batteries are expensive and I want to get the best/longest lasting batteries for my bird. Bare F550 for now, no extras.

I'm working on this as well.  If I discover anything I'll let you know.

I would like to know that as well. Just built a F550 and have been using a S3 2200Mah battery (From  ...

Test i did only hovering 2-3 meters  with myF550  (e300 motors +9443 props+naza v2+turnigy 9x rx  onboard) and  this battery Lion Power 11.1V 5300mAh 40C LiPo Battery price about 46$

12,56v --> 11,71v  5min and  20sec
11,71v --> 11,36v  4min
11,36v --> 11,08v  4min

battery was fully charged on 12,56   and 4800mah shows on my  lipo charger  (cell#1 4,18v    cell#2 4,19v    cell#3 4,19v)
the problem i had using this batery was with the red LED  light low voltage alarm, i had it imidiatly after the take off , so i just turn it OFF through the naza assistant software,  monitoring the voltage while flying with osd i can say is  less stressfull.However if you plan add weight such us a h3-3d i dont recommend this battery.

I wired up my 6600 mAh battery today. It wasn't fully charged when I got it, but wasn't dead, so I flew it a little bit (I think my starting voltage was 15.6).  When I fly with a full charge I'll be able to tell more if I like it. I didn't land until my loaded voltage was about 13.9. The battery felt a little warm, but I'm not sure how warm is to warm. I flew about 10 minutes, but landed to feel my motors to see if they were warm mid flight.  When I came inside and plugged the battery into my LiPo tester the resting voltage came up to about 4.7v.

This was without a lot of extra weight. A little, but not much. However I think I'm going to like this size/weight ratio since for a non fully charged 6600 mAh 4s I got almost as much time as my fully charge 11000 mAh s battery.

I went through everything you all are going through when I first built my 550. I was looking for 15 minute flight times and was barely getting 7. I could push 9 if I took EVERYTHING off including my landing gear, fpv, gimbal / GoPro, etc. I questioned whether switching props would have any advantage. A friend of mine was running 4s  duel 6200 's and hitting 20 minutes no problem. I have a fully loaded 550 with an 4s 8000 and hit 20+ easy. I also use the DJI 9450 's and wouldn't use anything else on my setup. I'm flying at attitude (thinner air) with the 9450's and they work flawlessly. But the single biggest game changer I feel is to switch up to a 4s battery. You will notice right away more power / thrust. For me it is apple to oranges. It solves so many problems. If you craft is "mushy" on holding altitude...give it a 4s. Oscillating... 4s might be your answer.  My 550 is so much more stable then it ever was on a 3s. Yes I adjusted the gains. Just never seemed to have enough power. So a 4s is my advice to just about everyone. There are a few more posts on here with the 450 guys having similar problems. Check those out as well. Might save you A LOT of headaches. Just make sure anything that you plug in directly (power wise) can handle a 4s / 14.8v . The Naza's can. Most video tx 's can. Just make sure to check before wiring.

Yeah, I don't get that much more flight time from my 6600 mah 4s than my 11000 mah 3s, but the craft seems more stable and can lift my gimbal... I'm thinking about getting an 8000 mah 4s next.  I'm still running the 9443 props, but might experiment with something else.

I get about 13 minutes of "easy" flying and ten minutes of more aggressive flying. I usually stop at about 14.2 volts (I have a simple telemetry system).  I usually have to put 4 to 5 amp hours back into the battery when I charge it. One of the big advantages of it is that I can fly with enough power to control the craft and maintain stability up until I land it.  With the 3s I can't even drain the battery as far as it could be because at 10.6 or 10.7 volts it is already starting to struggle.

I plan upon getting a couple more batteries, such as a 8000 mAh 4s.

Dear friends,
I have F550 with NAZA Lite 1.4 kG with fixed SJ4000 on board. No Gimbal, no FPV transmitter yet.
5200mAh 3S ONBO - flying time 7-15 min.
2700mAh 3S Orion - flying time 4-9 min
Flying time depends on flying style. It is very short if you drive agressively and it is long if you just make videos and pictures almost hovering.
I tried to set different low voltage threshold on Naza. I found one issue. I am fine to discharge 3S battety until 10V (the lower value of cell element before gas emission starts is 3V). Cell value is 3.3V in this case.
I made all necessary changes in Naza but my F550 start decending fast when voltage came below about 11.1V (3.7V per cell). I guess the issue is in ESC cut-off settings that I can't change.
Does anybody know DJI ESC Mark II E300 settings?
1. Brake: (I guess OFF)
2. Battery type (I guess auto)
3. CutOff Mode (Iguess Soft-Cut)
4. CutOff Theshold: ??? (this is most interesting parameter)
5. Start Mode (I guess Normal)
6. Timing (No idea)

Does anybody know how to change these parameters for Mark II of I have to replace ESCs to be able to programm them?

You can not change the parameters for the Mark II at this time.

kind of totally dissapoint of the flight time with the 920KV standar motor,  even i switch to 4S battery, change props to 9x5  even with the standar
i am no able to acheive more than 7 min flight time, lifting my h3-3d,   AUW about 2,4kgr    or when use 2 4S 4000mah  paraller AUW goes to 2,650kgr
cant fly more than 7min.

i am thinking to motors upgrade  like 320KV sunnysky
and add same RCT800 arms to the already plate of the F550
for sure will use a battery of 6S and a prop about 15"

anyones have a expirience in this kind of machines , with low KV etc
advices are welcome

thanks!

I regularly get 10 min flights with 5200 3S 10C Multistar batteries as pictured in the video below.

I have a Gopro, 2 axis dji gimble and video Tx.  Standard props and motors.  Ground elevation ~2200 ft.

Hi

i managed to achieve with my Dji F550 stock setup and 8x4.5" props a comformable 30min with a 16000mah battery (4s), the battery was from rangevideo.

in my persuit for long flight time to carry a 200g thermal camera, i am moving over to NCR batteries with bigger props and lower KV motors
