I am trying to remove the filter ring thing so I can mount a filter... but the damn thing won't unscrew. I'm very weary of damaging the gimbal. Is there a trick to this thing?

Hi. I understand that you want to remove the filter ring of the Mavic Air so that you will be able to put in a filter. Let me help you with this. May I know what is the brand of the filter that you have.

I have a Neewer set of filters. The problem is that the filter ring on the Mavic Air is just not unscrewing.

Is this the first time that you will be removing the filter from the Mavic Air?

just turn it, do not press to hard...(less force is better!)

Two methods have proved to be working. Either rubber gloves or a rubber band tightly applied to the ring. Hold the gimbal with two fingers in position and remove the ring with the other hand. There is some initial resistance, but with some gentle effort it will eventually move. Good luck!

just turn it, you will be ok, make sure to use your thumb to support the gimbal though while your trying to turn it. so you put the stress on your thumb if that makes sense.

Hi

I used a thin nose plier, it worked.

Yeah some on here have had difficulty doing this as well but persistence and following the advice given you will get it off.

Needed an elastic band, but I was able to get it off. Thanks all.

Well done. Suffice to say, don't have the replacement on as tight. There's also no harm in keeping it on either - I have a UV filter on as the default to keep the lens protected.

Thin glove - be very careful - took me a while and I almost threw the drone into a wall in fury but it eventually came loose.

Exactly, my UV filter for the same purpose was delivered yesterday :-)

Cool! I honestly don't understand why DJI decided to deviate with the Air from what they do with their other drones - incorporate a factory-fitted UV filter.
