Received a letter about a week ago that State Farm would be cancelling my personal articles policy. Anyone else receive this letter. I'm kinda bummed as I had other gear on this policy.

Anyone know of other insurance providers willing to cover Drones?

Did you file a claim on that policy?  Many times that will cause them to cancel it.

I have heard from someone on the forums that works for state farm saying they have been loosing money covering drones on that policy and were looking at possibly not covering in the near future.  Wonder if that is what happened?  You should of received a notice though.

Yes but many on here have said and I believe if you read the fine print they can/will cancel the coverage of the drone if you do make a claim I believe within a one year period of having the policy.  I do not have the policy so am only going off of what others here have said happened.

If you file a claim in the first year you are probably going to be dropped. I work for State Farm in NJ and that's normally how it goes from my experience.

Shoot wish I would have known.

Can I still get a PAP without my drone on the policy?

To be honest. There seems to be a lot of fools out there that push their luck with drones and expect to get bailed out. Yes, there are accidents but many are preventable.

Update on this topic...

The claim I made for my Mavic shows up under a home owners type policy...not sure if that's correct.

If you decide to make a claim be careful because it will negatively affect your home owners insurance and probably cause the annual rate to spike.

This is the reason I took a separate policy.  i don't have State Farm for my HomeOwners policy.  If i ever have to make a claim, there will be no way to connect the two.

Thank you for that info. I don't have State Farm either and wondered if they would still cover my drones.

As long as you have your receipt for your drone they will cover you.

I emailed my receipts to the agent.  so they have it on file.  that is how they set the value for me.
I also just added my new(to me) phantom to it as well, but with no receipt.  He just used the value based on current sales prices.  (it's a phantom 3)

I'm going to contact mine today to see if I can add my new to me (P3A)
Of course I don't have a receipt. I'll let you know what happens.

I don't know if that's necessarily true....

The PAP policy for my drone is the only thing I bought from State Farm. It is now coming back to bite me....not sure if maybe State Farm classified it wrong?

My home owners policy is through Travelers and recently increased. I started shopping for new insurance and the State Farm PAP claim keeps showing up as a "mark"

It’s only a matter of time before they realize that drones are too risky and drop them all together

Yeah, in this day in age, you can’t assume just because you have your homeowners through another company, they are not “connected.”   You can bet your bottom they are very connected.  At least, that’s surely the safer assumption.

The idea of this PAP policy is nice but I would recommend not making a claim against the policy. It will affect your insurance in so many ways. I'm finding now that a lot of companies won't even insure me because of the drone claim I made.

Lexus Nexus is the claim reporting agency that all insurance companies use. So if you have a claim on your drone it will come up as a loss when you get a quote for any  new Home, Condo, or Renters policy. It shouldn't effect a current policy with another company but if you decide to shop around it will be there for 5 years. Also it being classified as a "homeowners" claim is probably correct because the drone is considered personal property.
