Early out of bed and through the door in a hurry before it got too hot. It was the plan for today's flight where I wanted to test some video settings as well as play a little with Dolly effects while editing the recordings. The result is shown below.
After approx 20 minutes of driving I was there about 06:45 and went straight ahead. Checked everything as usual and found no irregularities. I waited for satellites for a moment and then took off, but to my surprise, my Mavic Pro behaved weird for the first time I’ve had it... as if an extra RC was in play. I hurried to land again, restarted it all and everything then worked as it should, the rest of the time out there.
There was literally no wind, as the video clearly shows, and the sun already was shining from an almost cloudless sky. It didn’t take long before the lazy pilot started to sweat like a horse. The ground I stood on was like in a furnace (I guess). At a point I was flying low, right above myself and got an idea. I ‘‘parked’’ the drone a little over my head and had a nice wind shower. I do recommended trying that and it can also be seen in the video.
Safely home again at about 09:15, I uploaded a photo (to be found in here) from the place, had a little breakfast and began to edit. To my annoyance, all the recordings showed lack of sharpness, which I have tried to correct a bit. The recordings are not super good, but the Dolly effect is to be seen. Please enjoy and please comment.
Yeah, I believe it was ok but I want to make a better approach at this. I think that if you record in 4k and render down to FHD you can make a much better zoom.
Very nice buddy, I loved the shadow shots, because they tickle me pink and are right up my street....
If it's any consolation I also had a first with my MP today... strong interference, as did Miche with her air, refreshed the app on both iPads and go figure no more problems. We've flown here on a number of occasions and never seen a warning. Go figure huh

Thank you John.
We totally agree with the shadows, which actually always adds something special, both in terms of photos and videos. Did you notice the Dolly effects? From 2:18 it is very clear.
Great Video,
I thought the Dolly affects were done extremely well. I have been trying to add them to my videos but haven't done as good as a job as you did. What editing software did you use?

Thanks buddy - that's kind of you.
I used Vegas Movie Studio 15.0 for this edit.
Excellent footage throughout, thank you very much! But please tell me the secret on how you have achieved that effect at 2:17, absolutely amazing and I can't figure out how this can be done!

Thank you mate.
It's no secret at all and pretty easy to do. I could make a guide, but that would just add to the stack of guides that are already there. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dolly+zoom
Thank you very much for your explanation. Definitely something I shall look into and want to learn. Ohh, so many projects and never enough time... ;-)

No problem mate and you're most welcome.
I remember the time with daily stress and too much to do. Today I have loads of time, but also a broken back and daily pain. Do not know what's the worst... both are bad.

I'm not complaining though, because it could be a lot worse. Generally I'm fine with some help from the medicine industry and a great deal of restraint. The things you can no longer do, they must be left alone.

I did see them buddy and I thought very impressive, I'm going to do a little research and see what FCPX can come up with, but after lots of research and a few testers.

Very nice one!
I need to find out how to dolly zoom in Sony Vegas.
So far even 4K video on a 1080 timeline renders very ugly when zooming in.

I am looking forward to seeing the results of your research.
Great job FlyDk really nice video, keeping Cool well there is no substitute for thinking, you will also find it’s amazing in the Autumn when trying to clear the leaves.
BTW did you check your log to see what happened at the outset?

Many thanks for the kind words - much appreciated.
I've watched videos where people clear leaves. It looks fun, but fortunately I live in an apartment and have no obligations of that kind. The Caretaker takes care of it.
No, I did not check my log. Maybe I should have, but did not really think about it after restart, where everything worked normally for a couple of batteries. If it happens again, I will of course be more aware of it and will probably be asking for help.
You're welcome.
The guy in the video who explains how it is done is a little hesitant and does not seem as if he is completely in control of it. But overall, what he says and does is right. By the way, it's exactly the same procedure in Vegas Movie Studio 15 that I use myself.

Shoot in 4k resolution so you can zoom in pretty much (up to 3/4 zoom) and still get a pretty good image quality. Render and upload at 1080p quality as you usually do.

Yes, I know how that should work, but I find the rendering process too slow.
And my HD will fill up 4x faster....
FlyDK Posted at 2018-6-10 13:11
Yes, 4k takes up a lot of space and will slow down rendering, but that's the way it is. It's nice to have some external disks for help.
I will have to get used to it one time.
But for now only 2 of my 4 camera's record in 4K.
So 1080p it is for now.
