For fathers day, DJI has some aggressive pricing on the Mavic pro but not the Mavic pro Platinum. I believe this is there final liquidation of the Mavic pro to make room for the Mavic pro 2.  Then they will still produce the Mavic pro platinum as there entry level Mavic.  I am sure they have a lot of inventory for the Mavic pro and in order to keep sales strong, they haven't announced the Mavic pro 2 yet.

Totally wishful thinking at this point.  Zero indication from DJI of a new Mavic type drone forthcoming.......but dream on.

I reckon DJI must postpone any new models and concentrate their efforts on fixing numerous bugs in their software. Especially embedded onboard software known as firmware.

Yeah I saw Best Buy was selling the MP for $899

any announcement of MP2 will lower sales predictions of an oversupply of the MP

Don't forget the Inspire 3 which is certainly imminent as well...

Most of the UK, has the Mavic Pro at £799, which is about $1070.

Don't bet on it.  DJI is expanding its product line.  For example: Camera stabilization gimbals.
Could be next product is a Piloted remote controlled Lawnmower.

The Ronin-S just released, so I get my cigar as the next is a drone lol but I'd settle for a RC Lawnmower too.

I don't think we are going to see a Mavic Pro 2 anytime soon. The Mavic Pro is the King of drones as it has only been released since November 2016, so we haven't even reached the two-year point in the drone's life. We could easily see the Mavic Pro original around for another 18 months more before DJI perhaps would release a second Mavic Pro iteration?

From the YouTube videos I've seen, the Mavic Pro holds up pretty well against the Inspire, especially with respect to overall connection and range having the better OcuSync technology than compared to the older Lightbridge technology.

After all, we just saw the Phantom 4 Pro that originally had been equipped with Lightbridge re-released with OcuSync. I suspect we'll see another re-release of the Inspire with OcuSync. It makes sense for DJI to produce more of the same but incorporate improvements before they release a totally new version of an old model.

The problem is the camera is kind of dated especially with these newer ones coming out being able to shoot 4k@60fps, 100Mbps speed, etc.  As far as functionality I agree still top but others are coming out with a better camera

Yes I understand that many feel the camera on Mavic Pro has become dated with the recent releases of new drones. While the camera on my Mavic Pro is still a work-in-progress, I've seen YouTube videos showcasing the Mavic Pro's camera quality. I don't know what kind of post-production was done, but I watched this before buying my Mavic Pro, which convinced me the camera quality no matter what was sufficient for me.

I have a good eye for photography, but I'm no expert. The Mavic Pro's camera has the potential to film quality video in my opinion can be used for up to any filmography (except filming Star Wars of course).

to keep the Mavic  ahead of its competition, it needs to update the camera, gimbal, and rear and side sensors

Their actually is a remote controlled lawn mower.  It is meant for mowing dangerously steep slopes.
And John Deere was experimenting around with a robotic mower.  Not sure how it was programmed to mow.

Got a CTL that can be remote controlled.  Imagine 6-tons of steel, being pushed by 100 HP, with tracks, and you got a grown-up version of child's sandbox toy.

Agreed.  The camera on Mavic Pro is good for price range of Mavic Pro.  But when it comes to shooting real videos, it is a long way off.   Starting price would be around $3,000 easily reaching $8,000.  Then you hit serious professional video cameras, like Red One.

Like with DSLR cameras, it takes big glass to shoot in very low-light, and not have to push ISO setting way to allow decent range of Aperture.

What about a mavic air pro ?

To compete with the parrot anafi, a little bit bigger and a 1-inch sensor.

I'm not fussed what it's called. I'd just like a reliable, portable drone with an excellent camera. Whoever can offer than to me the soonest will earn my custom.
