Florence, napoli, roma, amalfi etc.

Max height 70m, max distance 200m, only VLOS. At least 5Km from any airport, no flying near buildings or people (flying in the cities you listed is highly prohibited and problably NFZ some of them).

Flying a drone in one of those cities will 100% set you into trouble

Plenty of incidents of people being fined substantial sums for flying them near main tourist attractions where they're banned.

https://www.news.com.au/travel/t ... 8fb82fe5f7dce816169   <-- potential $170,000 fine for Colosseum photo

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/trave ... me-s-Colosseum.html  <-- even higher fine for the same offence more recently

https://www.thelocal.it/20160706 ... marks-square-venice  Someone with the same problem in Venice.

Italy is the European country thats strictest on enforcement.  So i'd go to the OFFICIAL aviation website and get the rules, also familiarise yourself with the local no fly zones (basically most major tourist attractions) and dont ignore the laws and try to get away with it - it can get expensive quickly - the Italians WILL prosecute.

For recereational use you don't need nothing to fly, you have only to follow the rules and avoid NFZ (5 km aqay from airport especially).
You can't fly in urban area and you can't stand above "crowd" (the crowd part is not very clear and very subjective).
Also on Amalfi coast you have to fly outside village or on the beach when it's empty (and they are never empty in summer )
In Tuscany you can have great shot on the hill

Hi Turo91.  I just read the ENAC documents.
Seems that all our drones fall within section II of the law. (<25 kg..) and for all this drones we need to have a dedicated licence (APR described in the section IV - "attestato").. is this correct?
Where I am wrong? (I hope so)..

Many thanks

Hi Leo,
you need licence only for work with drone, not for personal use.
You have some limitation like no fly over crowd and most part of the city are NFZ

Hi Turo 91!
Tks for your reply, which is definetelly reassuring.
Can you please help me where, in ENAC, documentation is written the fact that if flying is not for professional reasons you don´t need the licence?
I like to print the documents and bring it with me, in case somebody (police/authorities etc) may argue!

Many thanks for your help!

Ciao Leonardo...
Don't be afraid of police because they will come for you only if you'll fly over cities... you can fly far away from cities and airport always in VLOS max 70 mt hight and max 200 mt longer. There are also other forbidden zones where you'll can't fly and I think you'll find very useful this map

Hi all.
I hope someone could bring me light.
I´m flying to Italy and I read several webs about italian flying drones rules but I still have two questions:

I want to fly in Cinqueterre and, according to D-Flight map it is a forbidden area but;
according to D-Flight web, my Mavic Air goes into category: "aircraft for free flight FAI F1 class with lower than 1.5kg mass. The use of these media for recreational purpose is not subject to ENAC rules.

I hope you can help me.

Thanks in advance

The only drones not affected by the ENAC rules, are toy drones for children 8+ (of course CE complaint). So Tello is not one of them for example.

For AIRCRAFT FOR FREE FLIGHT, you must consider aircraft without motors.
So not our drones

Leave the drone at home. Italy or any European country is a no go... anything worth droning is off limits it appears and the fines are heavy as one mentioned earlier... including jail time and confiscation of the drone and photography equipment. Just not worth it IMO.

Certainly not true that anything worth videoing is off limits in the UK.

However for the UK get the following https://dronesafe.uk/drone-code/ and the NATS app for the  local maps. https://dronesafe.uk/safety-apps/   this web site is run by the CAA, the UK equivalent of to the US FAA

However since the trouble at Gatwick Airport just before  Christmas don't try pushing any limits. Though in Europe you are highly unliley to be shot by LEA for causing an incident.

I plan to go to Dolomites in mid April  (the Italian Alp) and want to fly my drone there.  Is there any restriction? Will I be able to fly my drone over the skiing field or cable cars? Any words of caution?  Will my drone be able to fly ok in sub-zero temperature?
Thanks a lot for the help~

In addition to DFlight maps, you have to consider basically all regional natual parks as off-limits areas.
So you cannot fly over Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso, Gran Paradiso, Portofino, Cinque terre and so on...
My suggestion is to carefully look at those limitations and then to fly LOS only.

That map seems to show no restrictions over Lecce centro.

It shows ATZ and CTR or blue and green zones over Firenze centro, because of the airport.  So completely prohibited or stay below or contact air traffic control?

Wondering if anyone knows the answer to this. According to https://uavcoach.com/drone-laws-in-italy/ "all drones that allow the transmission of data in real time must be equipped with an Electronic Identification Device."
Do DJI drones fall into compliance with an "Electronic Identification Device"?

[SPECUALTION]
Not yet, I think. As I understand  this regulation, the law about "Electronic Identification Device" will take effect some time this year.

I think it requres all new drones to be equipped with this feature. It will let local authorities see where the drone is in real time, who the owner is and where the owner (controller) is. All this becuse of someone not being able to understand that you should not fly around no-fly places.

The rest of us still need a certificate and have our drone maked with a flame proof tag showing the owners cntact details.
