Getting ready to fly my phantom 4 for the first time.  On the DJI Go app when I try to calibrate the compas it just says 'normal' and will not allow me to calibrate .....what am I doing wrong ?

It would allow you to calibrate if you go to the right area in the settings ...
BUT there's no need to calibrate your compass so don't.

There's a lot of confusion, misinformation and superstition about calibrating the compass.
Very few people even understand what calibrating really does.

The simple facts are that there is no need to ever calibrate the compass under normal flying circumstances.

p56 of the P4 manual, p57 of the P4 pro manual
... tells you when you need to calibrate the compass
Only calibrate the compass when the DJI GO 4 app or the status indicator prompt you to do so.
If you ever think the appis advising you to calibrate .. it probably isn't.
In at least 99% of times people think it is, the correct action is to move away from the magnetic problem the compass is warning about, not to recalibrate.
The message wording is confusing.
It says move aircraft or recalibrate compass and no-one notices the first part.

The only time you really need to recalibrate is if you modify the Phantom by adding or removing equipment.

Hard to understand why folks are just obsessed with calibrating their compass. It's like  that is a cure all for anything gone wrong.
