Being a model builder myself (not too active lately, but still in my blood), I have always liked the 'tilt shift' effect you get with true tilt shift lenses.
Now I don't own a tilt shift lens (yet), but have experimented with a blurred overlay and gradient mask to mimic this effect.
That sort of works, but for the best result you need a high viewpoint.
Until recently that was difficult for me, but things changed with the addition of a drone to the toolbox.
So when I captured this panorama, it felt like a good one to try this tilt shift effect on.

Nice Pano Monty, just a couple of tips, try to limit the scope of the subject(s) pano's from a high altitude are more difficult to get the toy effect. Add some saturation to get the colors to pop a little, and finally a little HDR can give the video/photo a plastic look.

My personal preference is to make for some kind of 'depth of feel' look (just as the tilt shift will do).
So not radial, but with a horizontal area that is in focus.
That feels the most natural, as it resembles how DOF works on a DSLR depending on the distance between the camera and the subject.
Now I know you can never 100% match this because there will be overlapping items like trees for example that should be out of focus, but are in the sharp area, but still...

I did try to pop the colors btw, but maybe I was being to gentle on that one

I started to doubt myself , but so far all the 'mimic tilt shift' tutorials I have seen tell they make a small bar in focus and not all around.
Just like this one (starting around 1:40)



Not that you can't do it otherwise, but that is just how I 'learned' how to do it

Yup, it depends on the editor your using, soma have oval/elliptical Tilt Shift as well as rectangular.
