Hi all,

Just got my Air and I was fiddling around with it and accidentally deleted some pictures/vids from the internal memory.  Is there a way to recover them?  If it was on a microSD card, I know there are programs that can help recover the files but what about for the internal memory?  I stopped using the drone after I realized my error so it should not be overwritten at this point.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Any pictures or video you took with Mavic Air should be on microSD card.  There are programs that can sometimes recover data from media like microSD card.  Best programs will let you write-protect media, use raw reads of media, creating a clone of media on your computer system for recovery.

Hi, thanks for your reply.  Actually the Mavic Air has 8GB of internal/on-board memory.  I went on a last minute trip so I forgot my SD cards at home (DUH!).  So I was taking mainly pics (some vids) on vacation and downloading them as required when the internal memory fills up.  I assume that is the reason why DJI thought to include this small internal memory.

Anyhow, like I said, I accidentally deleted some pics from this internal memory.  So I'm looking for ways to recover them.  You think these programs would work on internal memory?  I'm in a location w/ bad internet access so even downloading a small program would take eons.  Thanks.

I do not know if those programs could find deleted pictures, then recovery pictures from M.A.'s internal memory.
Might try searching around, and keep checking back here to see if another DJI forum member knows if it is possible, what program to use, and if there are any risks involved.

Unfortunately, you'll find some people on here have a lot to say about the Mavic Air when in reality they have never even seen one and know very little about it's actual features or tech but are quick to comment - as seen here...
In answer to your question, no - you will not be able to recover deleted files from the internal storage or any files after the internal storage has formatted. However, stills are saved within the GO4 app under the editor>album>photos section - even if you have the video cache turned off the photos at least are auto saved to your device.

Connect the Mavic Air to your computer using the USB C port and the internal storage will show as a drive letter. You should then be able to use to same program(s) to attempt to recover files as you do with a normal SD card.
Let us know how you get on!

By working professional data recovery tools on the market, you are able to recover lost data on your phone's SD card. However, when it comes to the internal memory of your Android phone, most programs will be useless. If you want to recover lost data from Android internal memory, this Coolmuster Android Internal Memory Recovery must be your best choice.

After running this Android Internal Memory Recovery program on your computer, it will deeply scan both the internal and external memory of your Android phone. Soon you can get all deleted files arranged on the menu, including contacts, SMS messages, music, photos, videos, documents, etc. Then you can freely preview and mark them to restore deleted files on Android internal memory as needed. By the way, the whole existing and deleted contacts & text messages will be displayed on the main interface. I suggest you to save all of them to your computer as a backup, so as to avoid losing vital phone numbers and messages again.

Thanks for all the info and input guys.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to recover any photos/vids because it's on the internal memory.  If I had recorded it on a SD card, I'm fairly certain I could've recovered some pics w/ data recovery programs available, but since it's on my internal memory, I just couldn't do it.  Oh well... lesson learned.  Thanks again for all the advice though!

Obviously, to recover deleted files from internal memory on Mavic Air, you need to find a tool as your assistant here. So the well-performed MobiKin Doctor for Android (Windows/Mac) is strongly recommended here. It allows users to have deeply scanning on their intenal memory cardi, and then restore the lost data to computer with one simple click.

I have had vary good luck working with the free version of Recuva, though i have yet to need it on the drone. But i have used it on internal storage of phones and HDD's without issue. You can download Recuva here https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva the free version should do it.

I think the best way to recover deleted photos from memory card using a professional photo recovery tool, such as  Android Data Recovery. With it, you can recover your lost or deleted data from Android device's external memory card and internal memory. It can help you recover contacts, messages, call logs, music, video, photo, audio, etc.

I will recommend you to use Ontrack Data Recovery software tool to recover data from internal memory. This tool not only helps in recovering the data from memory but also recover HDD data loss too. Using of this tool easy and you will get more information here - https://www.ontrack.com/au/

Data deleted or lost from your Android internal memory only flags the memory block where the deleted files were stored as available for reuse and it doesn't actually erase or destroy any files if you have stop loading any new data into your device once you've found the data is losing. Nonetheless, they are just invisible to you. So here, you need to find an assistant tool to help you get access to the phone's internal memory and scan the invisible files for restoring.

I’ve had good luck using Recuva (Win 7 PC). For best results, it needs a completely separate drive / volume / whatever to recover to, so as not to perturb the original contents of whatevever it is you’re trying to recover from! YMMV, as if the drive has had pretty much any additional data written to it, the “dead space” containing your “lost” data may sadly have been over-written in which case it’s likely non-recoverable!

Many users face the problem of how to recover deleted pictures from memory card and this is not a big issue that you can’t get rid of this.

If you have created any backup of the deleted images in your external hard disk or personal computer/laptop then you can easily get them back by connecting your memory card via card reader to your personal computer/laptop.

However, if this step doesn’t work to restore your lost files from memory card, then there is a third party tool, i.e. Photo Recovery software.

This software is very useful and helpful to get back your lost data’s. With the help of this software, you easily retrieve all your deleted photos.

Heyy…Well, this is a very common issue my friend. But, I think you should run the command prompt. This command can actually help you to recover deleted files from internal memory easily. Just try the given way to get those files back from corrupted or even formatted memory card.

No I did not.   I tried everything, sadly I do not think it's possible.  Have you checked the DJI app?  It automatically saves some data there so you might be able to recover some of your footage.  Good luck!
