First of all i would say that i really like my little spark.

That being said i am a little disappointed with the range.

When using the RC i am finding i am lucky if i get an out range of 100 to 150m before rth activates. Before this i am losing video.

I have the antenna at 45 degree to the the controller. Any tips to improve range greatly appreciated.

Are you from Europe ?

The Antennas have to be 90degrees facing up, you only lower them to 0 degrees when the Spark is above you.

Hi, please provide your firmware version, exact model of mobile device and the version of your DJI Go 4 app. Did you encounter an error message on your app? May I know if you are close to the airport or military base? You antennas should be in a form of 90 degrees.

Latest version of firmware and software. I am flying near an airbase.RAF woodvale in uk. But i am outside of the exclusion zone as per NATS app.

Fly somewhere else for a range test, first. Rural area as best.

Did a new range test today. Totally open field, with some powerlines 5-700meters behind me, so no interference..
Flying phone only, and no controllers.
Range 130meters, aNd height 85 meters...
Tried again with wifi repeater 2 from xiaomi.
Range 450 meters, and height 119meters All done in 2.4 ghz mode.  5.6 is useless.

Wow 130m with phone only? Good for you.

CE Mode in Europe is the Problem Mate. FCC Mode in 5.8GHz is almost double the power.

This is am interesting comment. I am in 5.6ghz mode. It seems to be default setting. I am going to swap to 2.4 and see what happens.

Id this other peoples general experience.

But if i fly in area with just little buildings etc, range is 50 meters

Downgrade the DJI Go app if required & load/apply a fake GPS app to a FCC area, Start DJI Go & accept WiFi changes. Remove fake GPS, reboot & cancel any further WiFi changes from the DJI Go app.
Find a version of DJI Go that works via https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/dji-technology-co-ltd/dji-go-4/  
Ignore WiFi changes after upgrades from DJI Go (the most recent app may get upset & limit the flight distance regardless? Still testing)

That's the only way I know how to maximise your results.

Sounds pretty identical to my experience. I also live in the UK. 2.4ghz helps a bit....I get around 20m more that I did with 5.8ghz. Like DMX says, it's the CE regulations that result in the relatively poor range.

This! FCC is so much better than CE mode

FCC mode and parabolic reflectors will get you out further

VLOS @ 500m you can't see the Spark direction well.

Always do, But the difference between when I had mine in CE compared to now when its in FCC is crazy! I have so much more confidence in it now...
