Anyone who enjoys tinkering with tablets may find interest in this. I use two Kindle Fire HD tablets, one 7" and one 8.9". The 8.9" unit barely fits inside the provided tablet mount at a width of 9.45". Regardless of screen size, if the tablet is larger than 9.5", it's a no-go. Unit is a Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 ("Jem"), that is the 2nd gen unit from 2012. Rooted with CM12.1, these are 'throwaway' tablets. If the tablet flips out from the holder and smashes on the ground, I'm out less than $100. Versus an important and expensive unit I use daily! The 1.5GHz dual-core is just fast enough to handle the app with sufficient speed, and running the CM OS and no other background apps means there isn't other spontaneous processor demand on the tablet while flying. |
