Had not updated my P3A firmware for some time, and have had repeaded failures in attempting to do so.

Have the app software to latest version, and have attached PNG of what status shows from status bar / overall status.

Here is a section of P3S_FW_RESULT_AB.txt:

------BEGIN QUOTED PORTION OF LOG FILE ---------

----END OF QUOTED PORTION OF LOG FILE ------

This seems to indicate that I had a successful upgrade in May, 2016, then a failed one on June 24, 2018, and then several more failures (there are about 15 in all, I have shown only a few), dated with some kind of default system date of 2014.01.01. I am guessing that the retro date has to do with the upgrade failure?

On the SD card, in the log file at /MISC/LOG, there is a parallel series of reports in P3S_FW_LOG_AB.txt:

[00040561]Packet upgrade failed at version checking.

----------------END QUOTED SECTION OF LOG FILE ----------------

This seems to show the successful upgrade of May, 2016, then a subsequent ALMOST successful upgrade that ended at:
[00824895]Packet upgrade failed at version checking.

The many subsequent attempts seem to show that the upgrade checks out until a "Packet upgrade failed at version checking" error. There are about 15 of these, all quite similar, I have shown a few.

What has happened in these  subsequent reboot attempts is that the upgrade seems to proceed as normal for about a minute or less, then the gimbal light turns to steady red indicating abort. I am guessing that this reflects all the successful checks displayed in the /MISC/LOGP3S_FW_LOG_AB.txt file, and then the abort due to the version checking failure. This is of course only a guess.
Any insight as to how to resolve this issue is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello there. We apologize if you're having a hard time. Can you provide to me the firmware version of your app, aircraft and remote controller? You can check that using the app. Just go to the camera interface > general settings > about.

Here is screenshot of the version info from the app. Note that this report may reflect the fact that there is no connection to the aircraft.

Thanks,

James

Thank you for that. I can see here that your app and the remote controller is updated. The aircraft should be in v1.11.20. Kindly download this firmware: https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/ ... 01.11.0020.bin.zip. You can follow this direction on how to update the firmware: http://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/p ... e_Guide_en_v1.4.pdf

If you will re-read the original post, you will see that the problem is that attempting to update the firmware 1.11.0020 has failed repeatedly, and that I provide a full description of what is happening, with log citations, etc.

Thanks in advance for your continued work to resolve this issue,

James

I see. Did you try to reformat the SD card and do it again? What type of SD card did you use?

The card is SanDisk Ultra 32GB HC1, which has been successfully used in this aircraft prior to this incident.

And yes, I did completely reformat the card and then copy the install .bin file in two of the failed attempts, to see if re-formatting and thereby removing any other information besides the .bin file would help, and received the same failed results.

Thanks in advance for your continued work to resolve this issue,

James

Hello. Sorry for this trouble.  A UHS-1 Micro SD card is recommended due to their fast read and write speeds allowing you to save high-resolution video data. If is possible to use a different Micro SD card (the recommended one) for us to isolate the problem. If you do have a spare one, kindly copy and paste the P3S_FW_V01.11.0020.bin on your micro SD card. You may download this firmware on your pc/computer: https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/ ... V01.11.0020.bin.zip
Please let us know the result.

Thanks, I have ordered a UHS-1 card and should have it tomorrow, and can then make the attempt again with that card in hopes that this makes some sort of difference in regard to the "Packet upgrade cancelled at version checking" error I continually get with the failed upgrades.

BTW, the .bin file you keep sending me the link to is the one I have been using the entire time. I downloaded it Sunday from DJI web site, as you can likely see from the logs I posted in the original post in this thread.

I will post again in a couple of days once I have the new UHS-1 SD card and have attempted the firmware update using the card you recommend.

Thank you for your continued work to resolve this issue,

James

This issue is now successfully RESOLVED:

Another user who had seen the thread and read the log files I had posted suggested that this may be a battery issue. Luckily, I have two batteries and once I switched batteries the update completed successfully. I was then able to switch back to the problem battery which itself updated successfully. Although I did have to re-link the aircraft and controller, that was a minor and perfunctory matter and the three components (app, controller, aircraft, plus the two batteries) now all have newest firmware update and I am flying again, at least in the limited area I can test in my back yard. Hope to get out for a shoot tomorrow to check out that all is well.

Thanks to the DJI community for providing user-to-user help.

Best,

James

Great to hear that you are sorted out the issue. Thank you as well for sharing the information. Enjoy flying on your drone!
