I tested the RTH feature with the P4A+ today, ensuring it is set on the app to RTH in the event of RC disconnect. To test this i put the drone at 60 meters high and 180 meters away so I could see it, turned off the RC and waited 30 seconds to see if it kicks in and nothing the drone just stayed there hovering did not move so powered back on the RC and flew it back double checked the setting and there it was set to RTH if disconnect from RC. Seems that this feature failed, I had this numerous times on the Mavic Pro and it always worked. Like to test these things so that If this ever happens I can trust in my drone to return home.

App was recently updated to 4.2.6 I presume but the feature was set as I checked it before trying this out, it should have worked

have you tried a clean reinstall ?

Had formatted the RC last night due to severe lag in video and that seemed better today but did the update when it showed, going to try and re-format and go back to an older version and see if that helps. Strange that the RTH did not kick in, also noticed that in todays flight when i was around 2,7km from home point lost signal and no RTH, lucky for me playing with the RC it connected with 1 bar and I managed to intiate the RTH manually

Honestly with my Mavic Pro had only slight issues with Jello nothing else, that drone could go over 6km and return with a smile. This P4A I dont trust... well not as yet

I see that not much about it on youtube as well, seems that this drone has not taken off with the Dji community

no mobile device because it has built in screen on the RC

sure ..i would roll back the app .. use the last version that was running ok

Strange, I have just used RTH on my P4A without + but with DJIGO4 V4.2.20 for Android. Amusingly, my bird came straight home and landed 1/2 ft from where it took off from. The only advice I can give is refresh the firmware. I do not think the fault is in either RC or its display. Maybe you should check in the APP that the lost signal is not set to hover but RTH.

No .. of course rolling back the app won't fix it.
If it's a real issue, RTH behaviour is governed by what's in the drone - not the controller or the app.
That's important as the Phantom has to be able to RTH on its own when it loses connection.
As you said, you switched off the controller, so it and the app had no influence on what you observed.

To "fix" this, you first need to identify the problem (if there is one).
I've never heard of RTH failing and I'd want to dig a little deeper before jumping to conclusions.
I'll repeat what I said in the other thread where you posted about this:

I checked the App before depowering RC to make sure it was set to RTH in the event of disconnect and checked it again when i powered up again and there it was set exactly as mentioned above. When going out some distance if I get a complete disconnect this is what terrifies me, it will disconnect and just hover and not RTH

It's beyond strange.
You need to do more testing to get to the bottom of it.

Okay will try another test, with the combined 30 seconds and the time it takes the RC to power up again the total time cound should have been around just under a minute before I manually intiated RTH when I re-connected

I would not take it out so far. Try only about 60 Metres, shut off the RC and leave it for a couple of minutes. If it does not come home in that time, then there is something wrong. Even so, it seems very odd, I would suggest re-loading the current firmware in the aircraftr again, just in case there was a glitch last time. And if it still fails, then upload the flight log to PhantomHelp at: http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/

Follow the instructions on the site to upload the log, and when it shows the log, copy the URL and come back here and share it with us.

I would also try with forward sensors on/off.
If they are on while flying out, the P4 will retrace it's original flight route upon signal loss rth.

If they are off it can't do that retrace calculation but comes straight home.
At least that's what the manual says. Never tried it out.
Maybe there is somewhere a glitch.

Also I would try a scenario where the drone is below your preset RTH altitude which would make it ascend before RTH.
Can't hurt to try all scenarios.
