More than two years if you can count dumb camera quads like the Hubsan X4 (first quad) and the Visuo XS809HW!

Visuo XS809HW was my first, in January.  It flew away on me and was seemingly lost for ever.  Family took pity on me and bought me the Spark for my birthday.  The day after I received the Spark, my son was out on the ATV in my back fields, and found the Visuo XS809HW... it had spent months buried in a snow bank, I had walked past that spot searching for it in the winter months and not seen it, as it was totally buried, he found it sitting in a puddle. We dried it off, and lo and behold, it still works, so I fly both now.  The benefit of the Visuo XS809HW is it prepares me for the eventuality of ATTI mode with the Spark.  All good.

I should add,  decades ago, in the 1970's, I flew control line model AC.... .049 variety

Less than a month for me!  My anniversary (lol) will be July 1st.  I'm flying the Spark and loving it!  Only once went into ATTI mode with GPS lost, but thanks to all of the forums, I understood what to do and I flew it back to safety.  Still fly with no problems

I fly drones for about 3 months. My first was a Ryze Tello, then I quickly bought the Spark. Many years ago I flew RC Helicopters.

So lots of manual training with my fleet - before mentioned SYMA X5C, its big brother X8C.
Tried my hand at a couple of Cheerson CX-20 but one flew away and the other had some bad ESCs.
That lead me to build my own 450 class quad, 550 hex and a Tarot 680pro.
Then my masterpiece I called the U500 Albatros - a 6S quad 30 minute flyer.
Used a 450 frame with upswept arms to accommodate 1355 propellers.
It weighs 7 pounds (3.1Kg) and still gets that flight time.

And then finally the Spark.
Day 4 I was almost yawing like a pro:

Picked up the Spark last September.  First drone but I have flown RC helicopters and airplanes for years.  Spark is way easier and is good for a quick video or photo.

what did you mean with 3D? Another user?

It's a 3D model helicopter where you can flip upside down and fly (Icouldn't do that very well and ended up spending on too much replacement parts).

Something similar to the one but tiny version

wow nice story, and it still can fly, it is a beast!

The XS809HW is a beast. I've badly mistreated mine, particularly since getting the Spark, and it flies fine. I've had to open it up a couple of times to fix things back in place, though! At the moment I'm using it to teach my son how to fly. It's got a barometer that works fairly well, so it will hold it's altitude to a degree, and it's easy to trim. But it's incredibly light....it does a good job of teaching you how to fight the wind!

My answer depends on what is considered a drone.
My country recently defined a drone as any rc aircraft, while I rather define it as a remote controlled vehicle//aircraft with a camera (and optionally a rocket).
I have flown for 12 years, helicopters only. The spark was added a year ago.

I purchased my Spark in January and my Mavic Pro in March. I just bought my sister a Spark and I'm Activating it now for her. I'm really looking forward to seeing some good shots from her. Look familiar?
