But thinking of buying a mavic but unsure on air or pro
Can I still attach an iPad as a viewing screen?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
How are they in comparison to the p4 to fly

You can't go wrong with either. They are both great birds.
Yes you can attach your iPad. They are smaller, faster, and quieter.
Btw the are easier to carry, set up is faster as well.

Since you do not seem to be in a hurry (which is always good for taking a wise decision) I would recommend you to wait until 18 July when DJI will present a new device of which we have no reliable information yet what it will be. Expectations and rumors point to a Mavic Pro II, but that can be a lot of wishful thinking too. We simply don't know anything yet apart from the DJI promise that it will make us "See the bigger picture"...

I would wait till after DJI's BIG July annoucement.  If it is a new drone that is combination of Mavic Pro + Air; then prices should drop on Mavic Pro and Mavic Air.

I have a P4, and they are a great machine, if your keeping it you won’t notice any real difference in Camera of Mavic Pro, but it’s a great flying machine , MavAir has a better camera than P4 and Mavic Pro , has plenty of bells and whistles if you fly within VLOS then I would definitely pick MavAir. But I would almost certainly hold out for new release to see what’s coming. Although I believe it’s going to be more expensive than other Mavics .

You can wait new MP II but I don't know if you want ti spend much money for this.
About MA is a good bird but flight time is less than 10 minutes and this is a big limitation
