Does anyone have any recommendations for preparing for the test? Any good sites or programs?

I would second using remotepilot 101. It is a very good resource. I passed first time after studying 2+weeks

Also FAA calls it 'Certification' not license.


I was amazed how familiar the questions were on Prepware than say on Remotepilot101 well at least on my examination. It also really depends on the exam and you may want to bring a magnifying glass. They allowed me to bring one in the testing room - trust me you're going to need it to read the MAPS they'll provide you before entering the exam room.

I have viewed some remote 101 vids on youtube.  The guy has a way of explaining things well.

Q)  If Congress designated a model aircraft as one which weighs "not more than 55 lbs," and did so via PL 112-95 Sec 336 in 2012, and if FAA designated a model aircraft as one which weighs "not more than 55 lbs," and did so via AC 91-57A in 2015, why would FAA designate an sUAS as one which weighs "less than 55 lbs." via CFR 14 Part 107 in 2016?  

a)  They decided a 55 lb sUAS would be an inherent danger to the NAS.

b)  They wanted to be different.

c)  They're stupid.

The correct answer is c.

Definitely a lot of choices and it is encouraging to see success with many different ones.

Magnifying glass, well, that sounds like fun.

I believe this designates as "commercial, paid flights through a business"

via CFR 14 Part 107 in 2016

You have to register your drone as a Commercial FAA 107  sUAS and ahere to the rules set forth.
Use the FAA sUAS Facility Maps
Use LAANC as available
