I see the plane, and the drone is circled. If this was a real pic, how was it possible to take?

If it's a real object, photographed with the plane, it's about 20 feet across.

A phantom would look like a pinprick at that distance.
It would be very difficult to get that photo anyway.
You're not going to get an aircraft in that position right behind the jetliner.

Is it a screenshot from a flight sim?

That’s  probably correct. It just struck me as being odd.

How could it be recorded, that way. I was thinking cgi...

You believe that too, then?

Looks so realistic, not quite SIM animated.

You too? That’s Three for Three?

At least you folks are unanimous...

Still undecided here... not sure.

Most major airlines have their name or symbol, emblazoned upon the aircraft.

That image you posted is probably from someone who has a crap computer. He/She had to lower the quality to actually fly the sim.  Heres a video of how nice the graphics can be.

Oh, I know, you should see RealFlight X, for some realism..

I doubt that pic came from a flight SIM though. Unless doctored some...

Aloha RHP,

It has to be a simulator, look at the terrain map.  The terrain map is a contrasted flat map commonly used in simulators.  Bring up Google Earth and tilt it, you will get the same effect.  Notice the warehouse over the front of the plane does not have walls, it is not a 3D image.  It is a tilted 2D image.

The shadows on the UAV are also very different from the shadows on the plane.  Consider Labroides comments.  The only way that UAV could be that big and still be 55 pounds or less is if it is behind the plane.  That location at the aft end of the plane while it is landing is near total turbulence.  The plane wings (main and tail), body and wheels have just shattered any stable air.  There is no way that UAV could be level in all that turbulence.  BTW, if the jet is on a proper glide slope, the engine is putting out the least amount of turbulence a jet engine can.  But still the engine will also contribute to the turbulence and it will be more than the left landing gear.

Finally, for the same reason as above, and noted by Labroides, how could a following aircraft of some sort remain level enough to take the photo?  The turbulence remains for extended periods measured at times in dozens of minutes except in side winds and when caused by extremely light aircraft.

Aloha and Drone On!

Aloha RHP,

The base photo is from a flight sim.  The UAV was added in post.  That is why the shadows are all wrong and the UAV is level instead of upside down and sideways from the turbulence.

Ken, you are always able to explain things in an intelligent and logical way.

Thanks.

I certainly appreciate your thoughts here too. Makes total sense to me.

I’ve  been searching through my history folder trying to find the link, for where that pic originated... no luck yet.

Food for thought, for sure. Interesting.

Good find... So is the pic an animation?

I see where it came from now, but is it Real? Probably not.

It’s up to all of us, to fly responsibly... no ifs ands or buts.

Sometimes folks write threads on lost drones. The replying posts are numerous. Then someone goes to the bottom and gives their suggestions to find it. Meanwhile a few posts above, the OP, has already been reunited with the wayward aircraft... yes, reading through previous posts can garner fun facts or figures...
