So stoked!  Got my FAA permit to legaly charge for service today!! I cant believe they are wanting me to be current on my private VFR pilots license though! that will take about 3 hours in air and hour of ground time.  roughly 500 buckes! I guess i jut may wait until the pending new rule kicks in where you just have to take a class or something?  any way its a good day!!

Nice.

This current process is the dumbest thing ever. I like how people can just buy an ultralight that weighs up to 254 pounds and fly that with 0 training at all. Yet if I charge to do pictures or video with a 4 pound RC drone the FAA might send me a cease and desist letter... that wont hold up in court... and even the FAA says can be ignored... wtf?

No it is a Victory Jackpot. My dad has a goldwing. He loves it. My next bike is going to be a Victory XC. I'm getting to the age where comfort is more important:-)

well...I am 50, so i have an excuse....I really wish i could have afforded one at 35 but they did not have the 1800 so...!!  I have a 2006 bought it last year with 32k on it, still ran 11,500.00 but it runs like a dream.  Advice:  Buy used and shop for one that has the TRAXION suspension upgrade, thats my only regret.  that cost 3500 to have installed, but you about need it as stock suspension really is not great on the mid year wings.

i dont know great question, but is that not one of the things that may change soon?? I think really soon.  I believe FAA has opened it up for comment on just paying for a class and being certified and then you can fly UVA commercially.  So I may just wait a while on that as to get current on my license will run 500 bucks! It will probably cost under 100 for the class! oh...and no offense taken!  I can take a lot...I have been married for 15 years!

I'm right there with you. I hit 50 last December:-). Two years ago yesterday,  I had a M109R that I loved, had so much $$$ in it. Had a air suspension that was unbelievable.  Two years ago, a buddy & I were parked at a shopping center getting off our bikes when a lady tried to pass some cars that were stopped to let someone back out. She did not see us and hit us at close to 55mph. I took the worst of it. She also hit 7 cars. Needless to say my pride & joy was gone, just happy to be alive. They wound up taking her license. The worst part is she had no insurance.
I tried to get another but they were back ordered for well over 3 months so I just decided on the Victory. It is a nice bike, I actually get a lot more complements on it but it is just not the same as far as comfort.
They are fun to ride as long as you watch out for the idiots. Enjoy the ride!

Wow, hate those kind of horror stories! unreal ,but glad you are ok!  Victory makes a great bike, I test drove a Roadmaster Indian 2 weeks ago and was very impressed. Nothing really in my opinion looks better than the Victorys but that indian is close, rides like a dream, wish it had nav on it!  Keep the shiny side up!

They are pretty nice bikes. I like the Victory better than the Indians though. I always have liked the modern looking bike over the old school. I have a few friends that have the Indian Chieftain & they swear they will not ever have anything different ever again. Same to you, Be safe & keep an eye out for the nut jobs

Congrats on your FAA certificate approval. I am looking to submit a petition as well and was wondering if you could tell me what you used for the petition itself.  I have noticed that the submissions are all very similar like there was a template but I can not locate it in any of the FAA sites or docs related to Public Guidance for Petitions for Exemption Filed under Section 333.  Thank you, Don

hello Don, yes you can use mine if you would like, all you do is go on the FAA, and search John Keller, you will need to download the free version of the ADP converter to be able to edit and put your name in place of mine, hope that helps good luck, sorry that was not a DP, I meant PDF, Adobe converter or editor.

How did you contact the FAA? I cannot find a phone number, other than the general customer service line, which is completely unhelpful.

Thanks!

I've heard 3 months or longer. The exemption website says to apply for your exemption at least 120 days before you actually need it. So I am assuming 4 months is the longest one would wait.

I am in the same boat.  I have to take a bi-annual flight review (BFR) to reinstate my license.  Shop the Fixed Base Operators  at other airports.  Mine only requires 1 hour ground and 1 hour flight time  for a BFR.
