Do I need to register my drone? Last year when I looked on line it said no and now someone is telling me I need to.

Yes, you need to register per the reinstated rule. You can register on the FAA's website here. Choose to register under "Section 336" if you're only flying as a hobbyist.

All registered that was painless, I wrote my number and phone number on a posted and taped on Mavic where battery goes do you think that location is OK

yes.  currently that is all that is required.  

I ordered stickers from Reclaimdrone.com  They were inexpensive and allowed me to put clean looking stickers on the inside of the legs of my Mavic.
