That was a really nice video. Constructive comments.... ok
Generally I would re-arrange the clips. To me the most stunning is at 2 minutes. I think I would open with that clip. That reveal shows how expansive the field. The shots that are overhead at the beginning I would put those towards the end. You do not have anything to compare to show how big it really is. The house does a good job. Also The windmill and water shots are excellent.
Thanks for taking the time, Sidd. I like getting into discussions about editing, so much appreciated.
I get your comment about putting the long pull away from the old building at the beginning. I hadn't thought about establishing perspective right away, so that's something to remember in the future. I put it at the end as a kind of good-bye to the video, the way you see in movies sometimes with crane shots at the end, but I have to admit it's a bit of a cliche.
Mostly, what determined the order of the shots was the music, so that I could cut on beats, but anyone who has seen other videos of mine would probably say I rely on that too much. Music is supposed to enhance the video, not dictate to it, so that's another thing to think about in the future.
Thanks again for making me put my thinking cap on. That's how we improve. |
