Hello,
I am looking for ways to utilize my Spark
for pleasure, as well as, business.

My home county's moto is "Land of the
Waterfalls". Years ago I would photograph
these falls to sell prints in the local galleries.

I want to be able to do this again with my
Spark, and eventually an Air.

My county is actually listed as a rain forest,
due to geologic positioning & terrain, so
most of the falls will be under full, or near
full canopy. I haven't tried any of them
yet, and I wanted to ask for feed back
here, before I did. It's my assumption
that I will have a hard time getting
enough satelites to for the GPS to
fly safely.

Comments for suggestions, please.

The spark will use Visual Positioning System (VPS) when GPS is not available called OPTI
this works very well and allows indoor stable flights.
The spark picks out patterns on the forest floor and will keep that position.
But if it goes into ATTI mode, that is full manual except altitude.
This means you will have to keep it stable.

If this is your first drone, I would recommend getting a trainer drone like the SYMA X5C or something along that line.
This will teach you the basics of ATTI flying.
Then you can carry over those lessons to the Spark and know how to control it if it goes into ATTI mode.

Thanks for the input.

I recently purchased a small drone to practice
with, so I will continue working with that.

I will select my first few waterfall where
I know there won't be any people.

Thanks!

One thing about flying over water - be ready for "the dip".
The VPS does not like reflective surfaces.
So keep your eye on the drone (not the screen) while flying over water.
In the time that you look away for a second and look back, the craft could descend and drown itself because it cannot "accurately see" how close the water is.
If you experience "the dip", just give it some altitude to counter.

Thanks,
I did some research a few weeks ago about that.
I ran into guy that flew his Air low over water after
dark, and he lost control of it & it crashed into the
water.

If I turn the sensors off, will it go straight
from GPS to ATTI?

Thanks!
