I just bought a 8" lightening cord for my iphone to connect to the controller but now that i got the cord it looks like it will be too small. can anyone help me with this please.

8" is too short with an iPad Air. I have a 12" straight and an 24" coiled and they both work.

It should work with the iPhone. I have a 6" cable and its a tight fit. Yours should work.
