6-Pack Amazon

3-Pack Amazon

Looks like the 6-pack includes the ND4, ND8, ND16 additionally to the ND4/PL, ND8/PL and ND16/PL, which are included in the 3-pack.

Having no experience with ND Filters at all, I was wondering what exactly the difference is and of what use the 3 additional filters are?

Thanks!

and would it be more useful to get 16, 32 and 64 instead of 4, 8 and 16?

The PL means they are polarised versions which cut glare and reflections on water etc.

hmm I actually prefer the picture without the polarizing filter... what do you think?

Think it depends on the look you're going for, I think it would be good to have the option of both

probably correct, thanks for the reply!

So what about the 16, 32 and 64? Are those necessary as well?

I've only ever used the 8 and 16 so far to step the shutter speed down nearer to the desired speed, I bought the 3 pack that has the 8/16 and 32 and I've never needed the 32 but have needed the 16 a few times to get the shutter speed down to 1/50's, I can't imagine I'll ever use the 32 but it would be ideal for sunset pics perhaps when pointing directly at the sun, I've yet to try it thought. I generally keep the 8 on and it's usually fine for English weather/lighting conditions.
