Most of you have probably read that in the evening of 27 July 2018 a very unique constellation could be seen on those skies, that were not covered by clouds. Now what has happened?
It was the longest total lunar eclipse of the century, lasting 1 hour and 43 minutes. There were more before and there will be others thereafter, but all shorter than this one.
And what made this event even more unique, was the fact that at the same time the planet Mars was at its closest distance to Earth in its two year orbit and could be seen slightly below the Moon towards the right side. This particular constellation will next time happen in 105,000 years according to the scientists' calculations.
Thus I said to myself that there is a certain unlikelihood that both I and my Mavic Air will be able to do the shooting next time, but should rather use this opportunity. The photo result has many limitations. The light situation was a big challenge in total darkness with a very dark Moon. Nevertheless here comes my modest shot of the event. It is noise reduced and slightly zoomed in as well as sharpened a bit, no other modifications.
I have done video as well, which looks much better and will follow in Part 2.
P.S. Mavic Air was only hovering at low altitude above my head, no flying!
