Yes for both. When you use the Boosters make sure you are aiming at the direction of the Drone.

I've not used boosters yet but I love my OTG cable, makes it quicker and easier to get the bird up in the air and no worries about signal interference.

So when talking the range extenders and pointing them at the drone.  I understand the concept but in practice, how sensitive are they?  like constanty adjust or north, south, east west, kinda of deal with keeping it towards the gernal area the drone is.

Some say it works, some say with iPhone you dont see a difference anyway.
I am otg user (just on android) for a year, now

The generell direction (I think the radar mode comes handy) at first, but watching the signal permanentely, b/c the angle could be sensitive.
100 height but  just 100m away is easy.
Only later 1000m or 2000m or .... is changing that a lot downwards

I could ;-)
You "just" would need to fly in a FCC area (the US is the biggest) and keep the bird from switching back, afterwards.
But you could go the way with a "Fake GPS app", or a modded DJI Go4 app, or .....
Google will get you all information you need and want!

Just:
That is more illegal as using bunny-ear antennas on your remote or the booster/extender reflectors.
But it is more effectiv, for sure

Yes, it works fine.  When you plug it in you get an alert saying the device is not supported but just dismiss it and continue on.  My video connection seems more stable and in my opinion it's easier/quicker to just plug in the cable than screwing around with connecting to wifi or worrying about wifi interference.  I do have plug it in each time though, can't just leave it plugged in for some reason (this changed with the latest firmware on Android, not sure if it also changed on iOS).

Shouldn't be a big problem in FCC.
With a bit space around and no trees close to the flightpath in the beginning, at least.
I did a couple of long range flights, 1k is average on rural areas.
1500 -2000m is, if on high ground or over water, almost always possible.
2+km  starts to need planing. Mostly for "where to land if something goes the wrong way" ;-)
The longest distance, accidently, was just around 3 km. From normal ground, 90m flightheight, but just flat surroundings.
Highest were trees, 5ish meter or such.
No additional stuff like these parabols, just out of the bag.

Oh:
And 5.8, 2.4 both did show up, near the max distance. But I think, 5.8 made it in the end. OTG is a saver!

Which OTG Cable shall I buy for my Samsung S9+. My connection ends after +200 Meter or gets weak. I am tired of that. Maybe OTG Cable will do a better Job then WLAN.

got ya, I am Rural, and FCC.  3500-4000 is the average I get before dark video and I get scared and come home.  can do 3000 in 5.8 and 3500-4000 in 2.4.
