I just came across a great and informative video from 51 Drones where he explains to some extent the reality of what is going on behid the scenes of our legislators in regards to the liberty of flying drones as a hobbyist. Please watch and i suggest for the sake of the hobby, everyone who lives in the states takes action and emails their Congress resp and Senator.
and always be an advocate to safe flying. Cheers!

I think this is a very informative video and one that all who love our hobby should be watching. Our hobby is under the scrutiny of money hungry politicians, corporations, and we have no representation in congress. People need to wake up and write their legislators and let them know how we feel about the negative conotations we are getting.

I completely agree and it is why i have shared here and across my social media platforms to let people know and be aware, and most importantly take action. knowledge is powerful!

Cheers!

I am watching a "live" webinar right now with the FAA's Kevin Morris drone specialist and asked this question "Bob 2: Off topic sorry: Is FAA 336 going away? I keep hearing and seeing videos about that subject. I sure hope not. People have been flying fixed wings for hobby a long time. Now drones and some seen to have different ideas on hobby flying." and this is the answer i got privately "1 Legal Support Specialist(privately): That remains to be seen. Congress has been looking at 336 and may elect to leave it alone, amend it, or repeal it."
So who really knows? A very vague answer lol

Drones will be regulated more  in the future. Several state and national Parks restrict drones from taking off and landing within their bounderies. Every time a drone has a near miss with with a rotor or fixed aircraft the event makes national news. The general public doesn't understand or care about our drone hobby.  We all need to do our part and fly safe and be responsible.

i agree. VERY vague answer ha! that why i think as hobbyist it is important to raise our voice and email our State reps and Congress reps about our desire to keep 336. (amended or not). But NO to repeal

Cheers!

I also emailed my Senator and Congress woman and I received the response back  from the Congress woman,
Thank you for contacting my office. I am honored to have the opportunity to represent you in Congress. My staff is looking into your concerns.

Hearing from constituents makes me a more informed legislator and a better voice in Washington D.C. for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District. I will be sure to keep your views and concerns in mind as I vote and craft legislation in the House of Representatives.

To stay informed on issues that impact the district, I highly encourage you to sign up for my e-newsletter on my website at https://lesko.house.gov/. For issues of immediate concern please contact my Washington D.C. office at (202) 225-4576 or my District office at (623) 776-7911.

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Debbie Lesko

If public thinks hobby drones are bad now, wait till the Biggies (WallyMart, AmazeOn, FedRex, OPS) start drone delivers.

We hear so much about importance of Visual Line of Sight (VLOS), and it is an FAA requirement; yet the Biggies drones will be exempt by vary nature of their delivers.

Yes it was a AutoReply from Congresswoman Debbie Lesko. But I'm sure she is working hard on it right now.

For sure most of them will have hard coded reply templates, but the more emails we send the better as it is volume that counts for them! Cheers and for those sending the emails and contacting the Congress and state reps, we are putting in our effort to keep the hobby alive!
