Guys!  Be careful!!  I did some night flying and after I brought it in, I noticed that one prop was hanging up.  It would stop like it was binding up.

I then removed the prop and one of the “nibs” broke off and was binding the motor.

DJI, the props you have shipped out are faulty!!!  I am scared to fly my drone with the spare prop!!
Pre/post checkflight is CRITICAL!!

Now, I want a new pair of props with spares that have been checked ASAP!!

I have never had this happen to my MPP.

Losing another “nib” during flight would have caused the drone to crash.  There has been other reports of them crashing. Wonder if they are caused by the prop being faulty.

Had a nib fall off on one of my Mavic Pro replacement props and have never had an issue.

There is already a brand new Mavic 2 Pro that has crashed due to this exact issue.  Thread is on here.

Bad plastic processing is usually the cause for small broken pieces.

That’s good to know.  My first experience which is pretty scary. Especially after reading several of them dropping for no reason.

Lost a nib on a Spark, and my MP.  They continued flying, only problem was the motor wouldn’t free spin.  Obviously not saying don’t change it.  Just saying... it happens.

Dude, am sure DJI will send it to you overnight, right away, pronto...

A part of me wants to order a new set and replace them all. Problem is that I don’t know if I will receive the same batch or a new one.

I can see losing 1 nib would be OK. If you were to lose 2, game over.

There would be visible damage on the actual props (amongst other things).

I know it was risky to fly at night. I didn’t hit anything. The only damage was the one prop nib when I was performing my post-checklist. I am only asking to have the props replaced.

With larger motors and props the resultant torque and stress on these parts is going to be higher in normal flight.

Hoping this was just a one off.

In one recent case, yes.  It was a new drone, first flight I believe.

Are you sure you didn’t hit that prop of something, the tip of the actual prop is also broken , it certainly doesn’t look right.

No, I didn't hit anything.  It's more than likely the light and the towel it was resting on.  I will get a closer picture after work.

EDIT: Look at Post #14.  That's the same prop that lost the 'nib'.  I will get a clearer picture after work.

Ok yes it does look like that might be it, no need for further photo.

I contacted support and created a case (CAS-2187189-T0X6C3).  I asked to have all of the props replaced since this could happen to the other props.  I hope they approve it.  I know this could be a one-off, but the thought of it being more wide-spread concerns me.

In the back of my mind I will have a fear of not just losing 1 'nib', but 2 'nibs' and seeing my M2P fall out of the sky..

Do your Pre/Post flight checklists!!  If I didn't perform any checks on my drone, I could have taken off the next time and it would be a matter of time for the broken piece to jam up the motor, and/or lose another 'nib'.  Once that happens, BAM!  Down goes your new drone.  Then you have to plead your case to DJI that it was a defect and not caused by pilot error.

Is this the one?  https://forum.dji.com/thread-162283-1-1.html   This is a Mavic Pro, but seems like theirs broke off 2 nibs.

Might have happened to you on purpose from God lol or your creator. Never know but that is why all of us oldies do preflight and post fight checks ALWAYS so ya welcome to the real drone life hehe

Still a good point I guess to take off the props when you pack up and check.  I had gotten used to just leaving them on the MPP since they protect the spindle.  Never have seen a failure like this but glad to see the other 2 parts held on.
