Hey guys,

Can you do Portrait mode with the new Mavic 2? Like on the Mavic Pro 1?

You cannot with the M2P, which kind of makes me sad, because I used that to shoot Panoramas.  I cannot speak to the Zoom.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out. Regarding with that No. But the image can be captured by using Vertical under Pano mode in the app.

Aww thats a bummer. I went from a P4P to a Mavic Air and now the Mavic 2 Pro and was hoping for this as I make a lot of content for IG Stories and wanted to shoot video quickly that I could upload from my phone while on location.

The Pano mode wont work for that as it would only provide still images. I guess that's better than nothing.

ouch i didnt know that. I take 95% portrait shots because they look bigger and better on instagram. And yea the vertical pano might work but then I cant use the 5 shot AEB feature for my vertical (portrait) shots.

Glad i found this out before splurging quickly for the 2.

Nope it can't and that sucks for doing a custom panorama (like when you press the shutter instead of one of the built in modes).

Just do it manually.
The in-built pano options are so restrictive they're pretty much unusable anyway.

the problem is not with the pano feature....its the fact that you cant shoot photos in Portrait mode on the Mavic 2. You can only shoot in landscape and most my photos are portrait.

Yes so are mine.  So you'll need twice as many images
Two rows instead of one.  Its more efforts and takes longer but works.

Not ideal but it can still be done.

I used to use portrait a LOT (not just for panos) so not having it is a bit of a blow.  Im going to end up cropping a ton of images.

Yeah it's a bit annoying that portrait mode is gone. I upgraded to the mavic 2 pro and initially I thought i'd find a work around, but its just not the same. I create alot of content for IG and i'm guessing most people do as well, not a very smart move leaving out such a popular feature. I'm yet to try out the vertical pano, i'll keep you guys posted on that

Same on here guys, i found the portrait mode of the Mavic Pro very useful, for stories and posts.
Now every video has to be cropped for IGTV and stories.... and the vertical video format just got popular....

The resolution on stitched multi row shots is excellent btw with the mavic 2 pro

I'm guess the camera dosen't have the room to turn a full 90 degrees on the side with the 1" sensor like it use to and that why they left it off. Maybe DJI could put a "portrait" grid overlay into the software so we could shoot video with that on and help better frame shots. This way we would know what will be in the shot after cropping in post. This still dosen't fix the fact that it kills overall resolution, but IG only need 900x1600px anyway.

Administrator, is DJI working on a digital crop so we can shoot video, and photos straight into portrait mode? I purchased a Mavic 2 and am now flying my platinum until this fix happens.
If I don't hear, I'm going to sell my 2.

Hi, is there a way to shoot video in portrait mode with Mavic 2 Pro? As far as I understand the suggested workaround (vertical pano) works only for photo . But what about video? Any workaround on how to do that?
