I noticed pretty big lens distortion in certon view angle.
Here we can see if we look over horizon (picture from RAW preview - unedited. Don't look on picture quality).
Same situation with video. If you tilt gimble from bottom up we will see same distortion. And when horizon line in midle of frame it is less visable.
Capture.PNG

I can try to post video example later.

In the pictures is not bad because the embedded profile fix this...but in video in DLOG-M or HLG its pretty visible...in normal color mode this doesnt happen...

This is very common on cheaper lenses.
Usually camera manufacturers fix this in camera before they even show you the picture.
But it might also be a real issue of course.

No, not only for you.
Thanks for the sample.
Can you please take a RAW of a grid chard so that we can evaluate the distorsion before correction ?

I'm getting the same on DLOG-M footage.

Makes it unusable in a lot of shots.

@DJI, is there a fix being worked on?

That looks like a bug - especially if the normal profile hasn't got it.  Its not dialling in the barrel distortion correction.

I've started a "bugs" thread on here and added this with a link.

By just taking a DNG of a grid chard, displayed on a screen (as large as possible). Like this one: http://3nhtestchart.sell.everych ... 9997/showimage.html

In this video samples is pretty clear that DLOG-M have issues with lens distortion

It would be interesting to see if the barrel distortion is the same across all apertures too. It might be reduced when the lens is stopped down. (Of course, the ISO will have to be adjusted for correct exposure.)

No. The Iris does change nothing. The distorsion is inherent to optic design
In addition to the distorsion, if you look at the RAW files without correction, you can see also a significant vignetting and color shading.

Why doesn't DJI staff join this thread with some kind of explanation? It's pretty obvious that something is not right - right?
It might be interesting to see a clip like that in 8# where the horizon eventually ends at the bottom of the screen. If the theory of lens distortion is correct, the horizon will turn the wrong way.

My M2P should arrive next week. The main selling point was the image quality with the 10 Bit D-Log feature with it's crading possibilities. I just saw the video from Jason Anthony. The camera has a 28 mm lens (the P4P has 24 mm) and there shouldn't be this kind of distortion. Sorry, but this is unacceptable especially with the name Hasselblad on it. If DJI does not adress this problem and a proper solution by the end of the week the package goes back right away and unopened!

You'd better send it back.
They're not going to do a firmware update within a week of the last one.

They don't have to ... but it is possible to explain the reason for the issue and how they plan to correct it. But if i am unsure whether this can and will be corrected appropriate in the near future or is an unresolvable design error ... it's too much money to guess.

Hi guys, received a reply on my thread that DJI are currently working on this.

It's my only real gripe with the M2P so happy it's going to be addressed.

It's nice that they are working on fix, but it is interesting how DJI response.
I think I was one of 1st who wrote about this problem and no answer from DJI here at all. In this thread.

Fixing barrel distortion should be priority 1.  Thats an absolute show stopper for a drone whos main selling point IS the camera.
Precision landing after that.
Colour profiles. Dont really see the need - it has normal and log already.  Maybe way later.  After we get course look and all the intelligent flight modes back!

On mavicpilots is a statement that DJI does not fix this cause there is not enough processing power in the M2P for the barrel correction when filming in D-LOG or HLG and we have to do it in post.
Can someone clarify if this is true?

That's fine with me. You have to edit the footage anyway. The thing that's weird is it's not like that all the time, so you'd have to chase it through your footage.
