Hi all,

I've been playing around with my Mavic Pro's picture settings and noticed what a huge different setting your sharpness to +1 vs -1 makes.
So after months of testing and countless YouTube videos, I'm finally using the Picture settings +1, -1, -1.

What do you think & what do people use?

Settings heavily depend on the type of scenery.

If the landscape is what should be sharp then it's definitely  +1/something/something because when using a setting below +1 the foliage is becoming muddy and the best to describe this effect is an oil painting effect.

When going up close and personal to a subject it's 0/*/*

For a good shot I've noticed that using the manual focus with focus peaking is the key. Also recording in 2.7k instead of 4k makes a huuuge difference in image quality. I've chosen to record higher than 1080p and scale it down to 1080p which increases the quality even further.

-1/0/0


This becomes even more visible when birches are involved


The same settings (0/0/0) used produces very different settings and as you can see, the trees an bushes in the background are affected by the noise reduction of the camera whereas the car in the front, as well as the trees 5m away aren't.

Yes I see it! Even the tree behind the car looks super sharp to me (it's the first thing that stood out).

You're welcome! If the foliage is too blurry then increase sharpness to 1. Not higher!

These are my settings and example
Manual exposure, D-LOG, Style 0,-2,-2, sunny
4KUHD, NTSC ,30 FPS, ISO 100

and this one , same settings only style 0,-1,-1

It's is sharp but the drone and or object isn't moving.

Keep in mind that setting up the focus correctly makes also a huge difference. I've found that the auto focus ever so often has issues especially when foliage is invokved.

Hi,

This might sound like a noob question but do you have your drone set to manual focus all the time?
Also is this the same as flying to your set point, then pressing centre focus button?

Always fully manual with focus peeking enabled. Since the cam has no actual infinity focus this means you have to adjust the focus manually when you significantly change the distance from the subject.
Tap focus looks wonky when recording video but works on stills pretty good

I shoot in Vivid Mode and use +3, -3, +3 for my settings because I like the sharpness and rich color contrast.
