Currently my P3P is v1.1.9 firmware and the smartbattery it came with.   

I ordered two additional smartbatteries and the question I need to pose is 'how do I know what firmware those are on?'.   As I understand it, the smartbattery is updated when the Phantom is updated so what's the process for the new smartbatteries?

Just put the new batteries in the P3 and power up with the latest firmware on the SD Card and if its at a lower version it will update, if not nothing will happen.

Be sure and listen to the beeps.  Also after each battery(Each must be updated) pull the txt file on the card and see if it says success or already updated.
