Thinking of getting a P4A Plus to keep my Mavic Pro company but am worried about its range in the UK. I’m pretty happy with the range on the Mavic but constantly struggle with viewing the screen on my iPhone X outside with it. I know the CS monitor on the Plus will be better, but what about the range?
I guess it’s the old Lightbridge vs Ocusync debate but does anyone have any actual range experiences with the P4A Plus in th UK?

depends the mode  activated in your RC .... CE ce for europe or FCC for USA

check the wifi settings in the Dji Go app 2,4 gHZ Band
if you get 11 Channels : you are in FCC  (USA)
if you get 13 Channels : you are in CE  (Europe)

the difference is quite large in terms of distance and signal losses .. at least in My Phantom 3 SE

Im in a CE Zone Using FCC mode .... In CE i was reaching about 500mts with lot of signal losses

Now in FCC i can reach near 4000 Mts without signal lose in open field

Firstly, I’m in the UK, wanting to fly a unmodded P4A+ and secondly the P4A does not have a 5.8 band, I think.I’d really like to know what people are getting as opposed to what the spec is!

I would prob say a realistic 3km in the open countryside with nothing between you and the controller and a clear day. video above does not show what his distance was, looks like a bout 2km max, 2 secs ..... HA good guess  description of the video is saying

i hit return to home at 2100 meters ,i still had full signal strength on both rc and video feed and lots

Just looked at his other test video, he says

phantom 4 uk range test standard
(3307 meters , 2 miles) aircraft disconnected and return to home auto activated

PS, i have the P4P and in FC mode in the UK i managed 4800m as my max distance

Im in sweden and get about 500M (woodland) but over ocean, about 3000M

I've got P4A+ and over water I got almost 3.9km and just decided to return home (still full signal but weather wasn't perfect so I'd prefer to get more than enough battery to return home)

Sorry it was 3.8km ;-)

In an area free of interference with no obstructions you will get the advertised 3.5KM

I bought the P4A+ earlier this year.  It's a great aircraft and the integrated display is very convenient.  The range isn't as good as what my old P3A could manage and the P4A+ seems to be a bit more sensitive to antenna orientation.  I've not got any numbers to share but to attain the advertised range you'd definitely want to be out in the open and away from interference.  A couple of windsurfers might be a good idea although the signal will become very directional.  I can guarantee that the signal is rock solid at the UK legal distances.
