I thought I'd post this for anyone who was wondering.

Both the HQ and Full modes are encoded in 10 bit color using Hlog or Hlg encoded with h.265.

The thing with HQ is (sensor crop 1:1) you will see more noise, I found, in night footage. Full is processing down to 4k and seems to remove noise on the fly, which makes it better for night footage imo and still keeps details but has the bigger fov. I like the HQ as it acts like a zoom and daytime footage seems good.

Oh yeah shooting in normal is all 8 bit color no matter if you're using h264 or h265.

So, when we convert 10 bit h265 to h264, is it still 10 bit?

No it's not. I did a few encodes for youtube back to 264 and it lost detail. Wasn't bad though, it's youtube you can still get away with the 60-80 vbr 2 pass main (as the footage is shot in main) render max depth, and that's about the best it gets.

Seems logical that the downscaled version shows less noise.
Thanks!
