Hi fellow dronies,
I have a question about the Mavic Air - I often need to turn it on, just to connect the USB-C cable, to download the images from the SD card.

So, when we turn on the Mavic Air, its normally unfolded - and we have also removed the gimbal protector, so the gimbal can initialize.

But the question is - can I keep the drone UNfolded and with the protector on, when I turn it on ?

I know the motors are doing something when its powered on and the gimbal also initializes - will it harm my drone to turn it on for 5-10 minutes, without unfolding it ?

Cheers,
Tony

Don't do it, especially for the gimbal it is bad to keep the protector on

Folded is fine but you should remove the gimbal lock before turning on.

You can leave it folded or unfolded as you please, but always remove the gimbal lock/protection before turning on the AC.

While it's okay to power on the Mavic Air with the arms folded, you should pick it up and hold it in your hand until it starts up so the camera doesn't smash into the surface it's sitting on.

Hi there. Thanks for the inquiry. Yes, you can keep the drone unfolded or folded when turning on. Please don't forget to remove the gimbal clamp before you turn it on to avoid any issue to your Mavic Air. Should you have further question, please let us know. Thank you.
